They probably have decided on a price range and where exactly it lands might well be determined by who announces first and the public reactions to it.

But they've also got huge uncertainty on costs and will be launching expensive luxury goods in a global recession. I dont think they're just playing chicken.

I thought the Switch’s price was announced at the October event back in 2016?

Nope, we had to wait until the January presentation for that. All the October event was, was the video showing what the Switch was.

Basically save £500 and hope for the best. Worst case scenario that just gets you the console and nothing else.

I thought the Switch’s price was announced at the October event back in 2016? Either way definitely done it no harm in the long term. Guess it just feels more annoying for these as they’re both clearly just calling the others bluff while they could both just announce a price and date tomorrow.

There wasn't an October event, it was a January presentation before March release.

They released a teaser trailer for it in October.

My memory is clearly awful  thought the October video for the Switch was a full blown event! Still was a great reveal, from what I don’t clearly remember anyway

Microsoft will wait until 31st October, then announce that it’s PWYW.

For some people it could actually be quite a cheap first month for a new console, lets say it is £500 (which is a likely ballpark figure), some people who’ve not had Game Pass Ultimate before can get it for £1, that means they’d get to play Halo Infinite and have access to all of the other 100 or so games on Game Pass for £1 for the first month, then £11 thereafter. I’m not 100% sure how much I’ll utilise Game Pass (and for some games I’ll still definitely be buying the retail version for when I inevitably let my Game Pass lapse, out of the ones announced I’ll probably definitely pick up Forza 8, Fable and Avowed at retail then maybe others when they go on offer).

This is presuming they don’t chuck a month of Game Pass out with the purchase of a Series X itself, could make for a comparatively cheap opening months if you don’t mind the Game Pass route, I say comparatively as £501 isn’t exactly cheap

Perfectly possible actually, I never considered that.

Console port with controller or just use M&K?

Blizzrd say -

We currently have no plans to bring World of Warcraft or World of Warcraft: Shadowlands to Xbox Series X. The platform was listed on the Brazil Ministry of Justice rating website in error, and the entry has since been updated to reflect that the game is coming only to PC.

What a surprise that is, a big fat Microsoft fanboy supporting the new Xbox,I take everything that blubber guts says with a shovel full of salt.

There both super powerful machines, that's all there is to it. Go for the console that has games which are more appealing to you.

I remember him ripping the PS3 a new one back in 2006/7.

I think it’s probably fair to say he’s not really much of a Sony fan.

Or a Microsoft fan, given these comments and Valve's subsequent efforts into SteamOS (and, more recently, into Proton)

He's flip flopped on consoles in the past. He was pro Xbox at one point and then completely reversed and was very negative about MS and complimentary toward Sony

There was also a news story a couple of weeks ago about them adding controller support to WoW. They claimed it’s just for accessibility reasons, but that story combined with this one is bound to raise questions.

Has Microsoft said they are done with studio acquisitions now or are we expecting some more?

Not that it matters but Gabe is certainly not a Microsoft fanboy, also could you chill on the fat comments?

Phil Spencer has said that news on backwards compatibility for Xbox Series X should be coming in August, sparking speculation that the previously-rumoured August Xbox event (and possible Xbox Series S reveal) event is legitimate. Speaking on iJustine's Same Brain podcast, Spencer discussed the work of the backwards compatibility team on Xbox Series X, and praised their work on optimizing older games for the next-gen console. He then added: "I'm encouraged to be able to talk more about it - should be August. I think August we'll have more to say on that."

While Spencer is specifically referring to backwards compatibility news, many have connected the August timing to previous rumours about an Xbox event set to take place during the same month.

They have to announce a price at some point unless both the Series X and PS5 are going to be free which would obviously be great.
