After getting first Avatar down I just said "strawberry float it" and went all out to get the other kills. Lost a newbie colonel in the process, but I can live with that. RIP in peace, guy.

HOLY gooseberry fool at my total days wounded versus world stats :slol:

Yes! I love the number of colonels you have. Now turn Ironman on!

:D

I’m still playing and taking the long game. Trying to mop up loads of steam achievements at the same time so my stats are going to be terrible compared to the world.

Just the most incredible game.

I'll think about it  But I am def gonna replay it asap and at higher difficulty. Ironman may be pushing it a bit far. (I may dip my toe in to test it out before replaying properly.)

 Colonels were like 10 a penny on black market. (I guess they become available after you get your first one yourself, or maybe when you have X colonels. Or maybe it's a Rookie setting thing.)

I had a breeze through some of the PS achievements. Only 10% of players have completed the game! And there were a couple which just screamed impossible and were at 0.01 and 0.02%. (Complete Ironman+ without losing a soldier being one of those. The one at 0.02 sounded even harder but I can't remember what that one was...)

There is stuff like ‘don’t buy a squad upgrade’ or win using conventional weapons.

I’ve not looked into it, but I suspect there is a ‘rush’ method that gets you to the end fast without the enemies scaling up too quick.

Yeah! No squad upgrade was the one that actually made me wince

Double yes: I did wonder how effective a rush tactic would be, but the majority of mission types require you to kill everything before extraction, so...

Getting close to the end game now. Now, on Steam, I am 200 hours. Just one of the most brilliant, difficult, but addictive games going!

Some screenshots of the mods, and the odds I face.....

I was hoping for that. Sadly not.

All the lads get fired from the squad.

The steam workshop is awesome. I should do a titanfall, or mandalorian squad build. But when you add a new mod, it’s recommended to restart a game or the models go weird (lots of caved in faces).

War of the Chosen save files load a lot faster than in the base version of XCOM 2. Also, WotC is a refined version of the base game! Kind of like Enemy Unknown was for the previous game. So, if you're new to XCOM 2, then, play the War of the Chosen expansion instead of the base version.

Exactly this. It modifies the base game and adds loads of content like enemy unknown did. I have heard it makes the base game a little harder with the chosen turning up on a regular basis.

It is so long ago that I don’t remember my vanilla play through. WOTC is amazing and it not worth playing standard xcom in my view.

Also, gamepass said that ‘Phoenix point’ was on gamepass for console. Bit it has appeared on PC gamepass.

I understand that Phoenix point is made by some ex firaxis team members and is similar, but less refined than xcom. I have downloaded it and will give that a go soon.

MOX: I did not exist when this city stood whole. Still, I feel revulsion at what happened to this place, to these people.

ELENA: I believe you.

Think I'll have another bash at this seeing as I've played over 250 hours and haven't actually finished a game yet.

Oh mate. You’ll get there. Play WOTC. If you haven’t finished it, I’d be tempted to turn the difficulty down and enjoy the missions with a bit more support and accuracy/luck.

Yup. Totally doable on rookie, and poses plenty of challenge until you get the improved weapons and armour. I may bump it up one once I've got a better feel of the expansion.

I've actually beaten the Chosen twice now but the final mission is an absolute slog and I gave up trying to finish it.

Yeah, turn the difficulty down but it does scale with what research/soldiers etc you have.

The good thing about WOTC is that it gets you the other factions so you get reapers/skirmishes and Templar soldiers.

Can't play it as the god awful 2K launcher seems to have broken the game.

Game keeps minimizing back to the desktop every couple of seconds.
