I might have said this before, but I think describing any of the games as 'the worst in the series' is wrong. It's not as if X is a 5/10 against two 9/10s. Yes, parts of X are probably the poorest of the three, the story being the primary example. The world, exploration, movement, combat and customisation available on the other hand are the best for me. The game is also a technical masterpiece, somehow cramming such a large, detailed world that can be fully explored in both the vertical and horizontal without loading screens, onto the Wii U. Monolith could have done more with the online side, divisions and arms manufacturers sure, but I don't think it detracted from what was already a massive game with plenty to offer.

XC1 is still my favourite, but I do miss the setting of X.

I'd say X is a 7 against two 9s. Not bad, but enough of a quality gulf that I don't want them to revisit it - and part of that is the inherent structure of the game, with the main plot feeling like an afterthought compared to the many and varied side-quests. Remove that (and the fact that combat focused heavily on Overdrive while having no useful tutorials about it) and it might as well be XC3 set on Mira, which admittedly I'd be fine with. The Skells were mint.

they were called cross

Really can't wait to see what they do with the combat system. XC1 was already great but 2 showed an incredible step up - pure *chefs kiss* territory

I think I preferred Torna to XC2. Not sure though.

Torna is fantastic, I enjoyed the battle system more in Torna than I did in the standard game!

I really enjoyed Torna and it felt like a good length for the main story. I love the Xenoblade series but always end up taking a long break when playing through them.

The combat system in Torna was a great change and gave it a quicker pace compared to the main game. I think that I was so used to the traditional combat system, which XC2 built on from XC1, that it took me a bit of time to adjust to the be mechanics but it was just as fun, if not moreso, once it clicked.

I did miss the variety of blades from the main game. Hopefully, if there are blades in XC3, they get rid of the common ones so that the RNG is just for the unique blades. This would make unlocking and using them a lot less painful.

I hope if they keep the blades, they get rid of field skills, remember they were a minor annoyance in XC2.

They don't need to get rid of it, they just need to streamline and let you use field skills of any of your blades rather than those in your team. Cut out the menu hopping and it would work fine.

But they love menus which is why I don’t think they’d streamline it

X is pretty good. Saying that, I would have preferred more main story in it. Also the Skells are awesome.

Very excited for this. Day one.

Does Torna work off XC2 or is it completely separate?

It depends, Rubix! The DLC version is accessible through the main menu of the core XC2 game, whilst the cart version is stand-alone.

I think you can purchase Torna as standalone content or via the season pass.

BTW the XC2 season pass is 33% off at the moment.
