Started future connected this morning, seems like a cool area so far. Hopefully I'll be able to wrap this up before F1 2020 unlocks this week.

You can get through it in about 6-8 hours. I think it took me about 7 or so?

How are you supposed to find stuff you need for levelling up Colony 6 other than grinding everywhere or looking it up online? Juju seems to give a hint for some things and says to "ask other colonists" for hints to others but nobody seems to offer any information!

A lot of the early level materials you'll just find about naturally, you can check your collectipedia to see which areas they are in. The rarer stuff got annoying to track down, so I ended up using a wiki (for maybe 10 things).

Yeah I looked through the collectopedia to check a few things but that only shows stuff up once you've found at least one of the item so doesn't really help for new things!

How many levels are there to get through? Think I've got most of it up to level 3 without too much trouble now but don't fancy the idea of trawling every area for items if it starts getting too hard so may end up on a wiki at some point!

There's 5. I completed it right at the end game, and there's a few items you'll struggle to get as they're on very high level enemies.

This area is very BOTW

Makes me wish the new Zelda had proper RPG elements.

Finally getting round to putting a bit more time into this, can’t remember how long Sword Valley is but it’d be good if I had it finished by this evening, seem to recall its far from the biggest area in the game.

Aren't all of the materials available from the Nopon in the trials bit in exchange for whatever currency you get in there? Think its only after you pass a certain point in the game.

I read that but never used it. I think there's a couple that can only be obtained from enemies. Also, some of the rarer ones spawn around colony 6 from level 4 upward.

Yup, it's so good. If you can, try to catch all the Quiet Moments too, they're delightful. The side quest are generally more varied in this too compared to main game with some even having their own little mini narratives which were great.

I think I have the last boss left which honestly makes me feel really sad this will be over. I've loved every second of FC.

Just reached Galahad Fortress, sounds like I’m in for a treat when I get to Future Connected so it’s a while off yet!

Sword Valley isn't too big. I've just finished that area myself. Enjoying the story; it's been fairly unpredictable so far.

Oops hadn't spotted your post above :fp:

So I'm around 50 hours in and about level 64. Ploughed through the Mechonis field area and really didn't like it. I didn't like those kinds of areas in XC2 either, think I prefer organic environments. Anyway, went back to Fallen Arm and did a number of sub quests. That's a much more interesting space so hopefully other later areas will be as interesting.

I was kind of hoping the combat had an extra layer of complexity (like XC2 does with the orbs) but unless I'm missing something when it comes to chain attacks then it doesn't. Is that right?

The depth to the chain attacks comes from using same colour arts to increase the damage multiplier and/or manipulating status effects and their timers.

Got the Fallen Arm this morning, it looks amazing outside, just looking back up, likewise when on the Mechonis Sword and you can look up and see the Bionis head, the backgrounds in this are just wonderful.

Yeah the combat doesn't seem to quite hit the same heights (or provide the same depth :P ) as what you get in XC2 but it's still satisfyingly to line up a break/topple/daze sequence and use chain attacks to really cause some damage!

I'm at Eryth Sea now, another nice looking area and reminds me a touch of the Leftherian Archipelago from XC2 what with the floating island theme.

I still prefer the combat in this one, because it doesn’t focus so heavily on getting the orbs in place to then burst. Obviously getting a good combo in this is very helpful but its not essential. Out of all the Xenoblade Chronicles games I actually think the Torna DLC might have some of the best combat mechanics, that was a lot of fun to play.

Easily my favourite area in the game. It conveys scale so masterfully compared to most of the other areas Also well worth going to that secret spot because that view legit blew my mind. Incredible overworld theme too.

I think the combat in XC was fun for the most part, just felt super repetitive going into late game. Visions got really annoying and disorienting at points. Never really understood how the break system with them worked either. Only just added to the confusion during heated battles hearing constant shattering sounds and hit with slow mo lol.

Just wrapped up FC and I'm honestly down it's over. Not sure what else I can say I that I already have on this. It delivered elements I felt sorely missed from main game. Melia went from a character I was completely indifferent to, to someone I now greatly admire and respect. Kino and Nene are now my favourite Nopon characters too. Their involvement was nothing but delightful from start to finish. Only makes it more baffling how they handled Riki. Even side characters felt like they got decent screen time and progression. Tyrea was a pleasant surprise, wish we got to see more of her. But her Quiet Moments with Melia were a highlight. The Ponspectors were really fun to all gather and learn about. For such a short experience, a lot felt packed into it. You can tell a lot the experiences MS have learned over the decade seeped into FC in different ways. Also very curious if we'll ever get an XC3 now.

Breath of the future connected is so good

I really really hope some of this design and density makes it in to the next Zelda (I'm assuming monolith are helping again).

Stupid work, why can't I just play this all day :capnscotty:

I really need to crack on with this before I get to engrossed in F1 2020. Will hopefully get the Fallen Arm area sorted this afternoon after work.
