Also, I looked for Xenoblade 2 on Switch store. £75ish quid for full version.....emrmmm nooooooo. I'll wait til I'm back in the UK and can get to a CEX i think.

To be fair, it's £75 for 2 games essentially. One game that is roughly 70 hours to complete the story and another that's 20 hours to complete. And if you get caught up in side quest stuff, you can easily double that (at least!).

Agreed, while the price seems high it's probably a good deal for the base game alone!

(Then again it is one of my top 25 ever. I might be biased.)
((Also I have recently spent quite a few quid on worse games lasting less than an hour.))

Hard agree.

The 2 Nopon made Future Connected really painful to finish off. Particularly when the few Shulk and Melia quiet moments are great. I wish the party of three had been Melia, Shulk and (semi spoilers for a character who makes an appearance from the main game about halfway through Future Connected) Tyrea

Also hated Gangrel(?) the dreadful caricature of a Disney villain.

Is Torna standalone or does it require the base game? As the base game doesn't seem that hard to find if you mind paying £35-40, but Torna seems quite rare. I'd probably go digital for that.

Torna is standalone, yep.

Is it? I launch it from within the base game?

I think it's available both as DLC and as a standalone game.

Yeah that seems to be the case, I do wonder how well the story works as a standalone thing without the context of the main game though

Chapter 5 now, I’m really liking this  the characters are great and I am enjoying the story and the world. I like that you don’t have to return to quest givers when you complete objectives for a side mission, makes them less of a slog.

So many different systems and things to remember but I have read through the tutorials and it gives you some good overviews of the different parts.

I think you probably wouldnt get a lot of what was going on beyond the charcters, especially with the wider context but by making it standalone, I expect they wanted to lure people in who hadn't played XC before but didn't want to commit to a full 100 hour game

Playing future connected.

Just got to Alcamoth....the place has bloody fallen apart.

Apparently Melia and Shulk have 'Been away 1 year.'

1 year!!! It looks like the place has been abandoned about 20-50 years. High Entia architecture may look good, but it's just polish over cracks I tells ya. Need to get some romans in to build their escalator's that's for sure.

Just over 10 hours into this now, up to the point now where I need find the 4 items in order to gain access to the Bionis Head. Still really enjoying this, got involved in a side quest where I had to find Exile Fortress and got a key for a Giants treasure, wasn’t expecting to be attacked by massive spiders

Hoping to come across more interesting side stuff like this.

In game clock shows just over 13 hours play and I’m now on Chapter 8, am I going through this quite quickly or something? I feel like it’s going by quite quickly.

I think the game slows a little as you get further in so you've still got a lot to get through, even without doing any of the side quests.

Cool, I was thinking that it seemed to be flying by quite quickly, good to know I have a lot more to go plus Future Connected after.

If you're ever 13 hours into a Xenoblade game and wondering how much you have to go, the answer is always, without fail, "a lot"
