There isn't much more to go after that.

I did this along with some grinding and managed to get through it. It wasn't fun though, horrible boss and reading online that's a sentiment shared!

The game is dragging a bit now. I haven't really enjoyed the Dickson heel turn and I've realised if you get to a boss 6 levels higher, you basically can't beat them because all your attacks miss. This has meant having to stop progressing the story and go off grinding. And in the case of the battle with Dickson having to go back to an early save because I was past the point of no return and couldn't level up more before the battle :fp: It's kinda killed the momentum and pacing a bit when I really just want to see it through now. I've definitely had my fill of the side quests too so grinding is just battling monsters and again. I'm a little surprised I've got to this bit so under levelled because I've done a lot of the side quests!

Another thing that isn't helping my motivation is because of [inline]completing XC2[/inlinespoiler] I kinda know where the story is going so that won't be a huge surprise. Although that isn't really a fair criticism of the game because I have played them the wrong way round!

This has turned into a real big moan  But i have really enjoyed the game! For me, the sequel improves on it in nearly every way but this definitely holds up against it.

I can’t remember if I was much overlevelled in this but seem to think due to side quests being pretty poor barring a few (thankfully the complete opposite in XC3) I was around the level of the current boss anyway, if not I just ground out a few levels. Don’t ever recall being overlevelled reduced your accuracy though?

If you just want to see the story through, there’s always easy mode :shifty:

Yeah you need to be within 5 levels of an enemy/boss or 90% of your attacks will miss making it pretty impossible.

To be fair, I'm only a few levels under what I need to be, a bit of grinding has sorted it out so it's not a huge issue it's just killed the pacing of the final chapter at a time when I'm ready to just get it finished.

The Bonus XP systems in 2 and 3 at least pretty much eliminate the need for grinding entirely.

With the amount of side quests in 3 it’s not just the bonus exp that gets you overlevelled though, with a party of 7 you can take down enemies a few levels above you without much trouble so you can do side quests earlier than the games recommended level for them, which gives you more exp as they’re above your level. I get it’s hard to balance, but for how good the side content is in 3 they could have trimmed some of them out so you’re not nearly constantly overlevelled before you use the optional exp.

I was hugely overlevelled in this by the mid-late game, the end boss was several minutes of cutscenes building up how insane the final challenge was going to be followed by literally about 30s of battle where my crew wiped the floor with the boss!

And done. Not sure I'll bother with Future Connected as I feel I've had my fill but the ending didn't disappoint.

So Alvin is Ontus right? I'm guessing that's something they didn't initially plan but it works out pretty well I'd say!

Future Connected is kinda throwaway. I don't really think it's a must play or anything. It was merely fine.

Yeh the name made me think it might be more but reading up that's the impression I get. I think I've had my fill.

Time to take a breather then move onto 3 :datass:

Might save it for Christmas.

Was going to ask if Future Connected is worth playing but seems maybe not :slol:

Might start XB2 when I’m off over Xmas, not bothered picking up 3 yet until I’ve got through 2

I enjoyed Future Connected, probably not essential though.

Playing Future Connected and I think I’m coming to the end of it (heading back to Alcamoth for the second time) I’ve enjoyed it, just great to be back in this world again tbh

In the new year I’ll start 2

Took me about 70 hours to complete XC:DE and approximately 17 hours of that were spent running around Alcamoth's wide open spaces.

Yeah, Alcamoth wasn’t one of the best locations in the game

Fog King dethroned :toot: really enjoyed my time with Xenoblade overall, I’ll be moving onto the second game in the new year. Picked up Xenoblade 3 today as well so hopefully will get to that this time next year

I've been replaying the game (but on Switch this time) with the intention of finishing the main story and Future Connected before Xenoblade 3 released.

...which didn't happen. Still got ages to go, I'm up to Valak Mountain, but I'm determined to finish everything before playing 3 to remind myself of the story (haven't played the original since 2015).

Is Future Connected really so throwaway? I assumed it would be essential before playing 3.

I’ve not played 3 yet so might be wrong but Future Connected really felt like a one and done short story. It didn’t feel like it ended with any big ramifications that would carry over, they met a new baddie and it was defeated.

I haven't played Future Connected but here's why they made it per Monolith Soft president and Xenoblade creator Tetsuya Takahashi:

It’s because we felt bad for Melia… I’m only half-joking when I say that. With Future Connected, we’re able to draw in those who’ve already played Xenoblade Chronicles; moreover, there’s details there that connect to the future of Xenoblade. So we created it for two and a half reasons. Another rationale being we had an unused map from the main game, the Bionis’ shoulder, which was appropriate for the setting.
