There's a reason why they helped out with BotW development. I'm starting to see how they left their impression on the game too. There's stuff in XC that almost reminds me of BotW with how it tickles the players curiosity.

Its the sense of place and scale, not only in the wider world but amongst enemies. Those huuuge strawberry floaters wondering around so the moment give you a proper 'oh my god' feeling when you get near them.

Good to see people enjoying this. I put about 140 hours into the Wii version. Always felt it was one of those games that, while critically acclaimed, didn't get the exposure it deserved.

So far I still find Dunban and Shulk the most enjoyable to use. Melia is pretty fun too but I prefer to just have her as the anchor of the team. I've seen a lot of folks with Reyn in their team but I haven't used him much ever since Dunban joined.

I'm still only rocking Shulk and Reyn at the moment, hoping to pick up some more characters soon though!

XC/XC2 speedrunner Enel has uploaded character guides on youtube about how to use them all which I keep meaning to watch. I'm still lost with how to utilise Riki other than just being a tank.

No matter what combination I use, shulk, Reyn and Dunban just feels right and suits my fighting style more.

Just got to fallen arm, wreckage beach. Its bloody gorgeous

Best area I think. The secret location is great. The view :datass:

Might have to look into those, setting up characters has never been my forte in RPGs, tend to just go for being a higher level and a bit of luck.

I was running Shulk, Reyn and Riki until recently (I've just got to Alcamoth). Just swapped Dunban in for Reyn to push his affinity up. Dunban seems to hit harder but needs healing all the time so will probably swap Reyn back in when I push ahead on the story.

Watched the Riki one and it's given me some useful ideas. I'd always seen him as a support character but it's nice to know what kind of skills to focus on and what gems to equip. I always seem to ignore equipment and gems as there are so many things to sort out on characters. Also skill links tend to get forgotten about too.

Just found the hidden machina town and repaired Fiora. Dickson has managed to get to us somehow, presumably using a game of thrones fast travel machine. I don't trust him :capnscotty:

Done some grinding last night for the point of no return. Shulk, Reyn and Dunban is actually a pretty good team. Lack of healing doesn't really matter when you can wreck the strawberry float out of everything quickly. Might swap Sharla in for the end of the game though.

I'm roughly just behind Victor in terms of story progress. Glad things are slowing down somewhat in terms of pacing. The first 11 chapters of the game almost feel like a goose chase of sorts, but masked by an engaging story. I feel like the characters can breathe and express themselves a lot more now. Already loved how chapter 12 started off, hoping this keeps up.

Team wise I’ll probably go for the same as my first time through. Shulk, Reyn and Sharla then switching between Sharla and Melia depending on the fight.

So, booted up the Wii last night and stuck in Xenoblade - only been 9 years odd!

Discovered I had actually reached Alcamoth after 66 hours (level 44). The story up to now is fairly vague in my memory, so hadn't a clue where I should be going. Wandered round Eryth Sea and refamiliarised myself; and, good god, there's a hell of a lot systems, gems, areas, etc to try and remember. Feel a little lost tbh, but gonna plough on.

The soundtrack and environments are as great as ever, but those graphics on the wii are looking a bit pixelly / ropey now.

I think I beat the original in 65-70 hours.

I'm levelled up, going to get this done at the weekend. I just fought some lvl 80 odd things in Satorl Marsh. Also killed Territorial Robart in the Bionis leg.

Still yet to find the time to have a proper long session with this yet, but I'm having fun dipping in and out when I get the chance.

Torn at the moment as to whether the abundance of side quests is a good or bad thing for my current level of activity in the game - on the one hand it means when I drop into it for an hour I always have some things I can definitely do, but on the other hand the side quests usually end up being the only things I do and so the story has barely had time to get going thus far!

Flip!

To be fair, when i checked i had 100% most of the areas i'd been through...

I don't think i'll be continuing like that though. Need to finish it before i leave it another 9 years!

I think Fallen Arm might be conceptually one of my favourite locations so far. The day theme is wonderful. First time in the game I legitimately felt the scale of the world in comparison to ourselves.
