Money isn't usually much of a problem in this game until the last stages huh >,> The last few levels for upgrading Colony 6 facilities aren't a joke. Gonna have to start grinding for expensive loot to sell.

Furthers I've got is a quarter of the health bar gone, and that's with trying out combos of all characters.

I seem to recall Melia is very helpful for that fight, on my 3DS playthrough my party would have been Shulk, Reyn and Melia.

Just doing quests around Eyrth Sea and I'm up to 777k! Still got plenty of stuff to sell as well, never bothered upgrading Colony 6 on my previous playthrough so not sure how much it costs down the line.

There are weapons, armour and art skill upgrades that will start costing you quite a bit later on. The Colony 6 stuff will require 100-300k for the last couple levels lol.

Chapter 17 spoilers.

The Lorithia fight is the one I did some grinding for. It caused me a lot of issues years ago.

Maining with Melia is a must, cause she can inflict heavy ether damage and buff your characters. Also level your characters to the same as the boss, or you could just go overkill and level them beyond her. I had Fiora and Sharla in that fight as well.

Fairly sure they made the fight easier on this version as well. I remember constantly getting knocked into the poisonous ether pools on the Wii version, didn't happen once to me on this one (I think they made the pools smaller?)

You can literally go back to Shulk, Reyn and Dunban/Sharla after that fight.

Not sure if it’s been changed since the Wii/3DS versions (or if it’s mainly down to side quests being immeasurably easier to complete due to tracking) but I feel like I’m levelling up far quicker than my 3DS run?

Currently exploring Valek Mountain, along with Eryth Sea being another stunning place at night. No side quests on the go currently as well :datass:

I'm only 1 level under the boss, so it's not too much grinding to get there. Only thing is I've barely used any other characters up until now, so I don't have any real idea of what arts are worth using or how to really use them. Using her, I've just kind of run along the list activating an element, then the middle white thing to attack with it. With my usual gang I have a real rhythm going and I know what arts to use when.

With Melia I think one of the tactics is to use an element art and then use copy to duplicate it? Then use the central art to burst them? She’s definitely better being controlled by the player as well. Not used Melia this time through yet as I really like the trio of Shulk, Reyn and Sharla, they do compliment each other rather well. Think ‘Seven’ is meant to be quite helpful in this fight as well, pretty sure they’re unlocked by this point anyway!

Edit, these might be helpful for Melia,

Took this on last night and jeezus, it was a mess in terms of visuals lol.Can barely see whats happening at times. If I wasn't slightly over levelled this fight would have been so much more of a nightmare with those elementals being constantly spawned in. Not a fan of difficulty spikes with late game bosses too.

strawberry floating hell :dread:

Rest assured, that is the hardest boss in the game. Seriously though, main Melia. She is amazing in that fight, the AI is totally strawberry floating gooseberry fool with her.

How she works, you basically press a button on a spell, then hit the middle button to release the attack. She has this double cast ability which is pretty good, it repeats the previous elemental attack, negating cooldown.

Edit -

Worth mentioning, the boss has this increase in physical defence when there's a few of those Nova things spawned. Keep two of them alive.

4 novas → 100%
3 novas → 55%
2 novas → -5%
1 nova → -80%
0 novas → -100%

It's a strawberry floating silly boss. Not sure why they didn't fix it.

That is properly gutting

It definitely is the low point of the game though.

What's all this Affinity business about then? I know certain heart to heart scenes are locked behind it but does it impact other things as well? I notice sometimes after a battle characters will get an Affinity Coin - what are those used for?

I probably should have paid more attention to some of the tutorials but the early game was so full of them I just wanted to get on with things!

Affinity coins are used for skill links between characters. It’s the menu item above arts I believe. Then you ZR to get to the other tab.

Surprised so many are struggling with Lorithia. I found a chain link after killing the second set of her shield summons finished her off swiftly. This is my second playthrough though. I’ve had zero troubles with any of the story bosses (although I’m dreading the final boss, because I recall having to grind), but a few of the named mobs have whooped my ass. Heinrich in the kitchen wiped me 3 times . Don’t get me started on Mordred the fortress either.

Got the bastard :datass: I just spent a while levelling up against the telethia in the surrounding area, got the party to 1 level above the boss, paid a bit more attention to equipped gems (rather than just maxing out strength on everyone) and did it pretty easily. Mained shulk of course  with melia and sharla supporting.

Now I'm back on prison island.
