It's a shame how Dickson's character was treated during the later half of the game.

Yeah that was obvious from the second you saw him

Finished up the main story on this last night! :toot:

I got far too bogged down in doing the ridiculous number of side quests that they throw at you in the final chapter before realising that it wasn't really worth it. Upshot of doing so many of them was that where I was already slightly over-levelled for most of the game I ended up being ridiculously over powered for the final boss which I faced with each of my team being over level 90 I think. Each stage of the boss took less than 60 seconds which was a bit of an anticlimax! That said it was quite humorous to see the juxtaposition of the story/dialogue banging on about needing to take down a god and Zamza/Disciple Dickson calling the player pathetic and weak when they basically went down with a couple of smacks!

Really enjoyed the ending, particularly with how it connects to the sequel. Having played the games out of order it was really neat to see the link between this and XC2 coming together at the end!

Overall I really enjoyed the game but still think the sequel was a better experience. Going to move on to Future Connected now, although I feel like I might need to take a break in between

Is Reyn still in Future Connected? I'd hate to miss out on hearing that line every 5 minutes!

No

Just Mellia whos voice actor now sounds like she's in her 40s, and Riki's kids :dread:

Yeah I'm intrigued to see how the voices hold up given it would have been the best part of a decade between Future Connected and the original VO sessions! Melia is Jenna Coleman isn't it? I think people were quite impressed that she came back to do it

Made a brief start on Future Connected - strawberry float me these Nopon are going to annoy me to death aren't they?

Voices don't sound too bad so far. Shulk sounds like he's been on the ciggies a bit in the interim period so doesn't really sound like a fresh faced kid any more but I'm sure that won't distract me too much.

Also I was reading up on a few things in the base game as I was deciding whether go back and finish more of the endgame content and whilst looking on one wiki I discovered that in Japanese the name of Mumkhar'smechon (which is called Metal Face in the English version) is "Black Face" :dread: :fp:

I haven't got to the point where Metal Face reveals he can talk yet (I knew who he was already, don't worry) and I'm agonising over whether I should play with dubs and get cock-er-ney Dick Van Dyke, or go subs and get Norio Waka-fucking-moto.

Eek, sorry added a spoiler for that! :shifty:

I genuinely love almost all of the VO in these games, yes it's corny at times and borderline insane at others but it has so much character to it that I genuinely don't think I would have connected to the story and cast as much without it

Oh, absolutely. I think they did a bang up job with the dub, cheesy as it is.

But on the other hand, Cell.

I've managed to put a lot more time into this over the past couple of weeks and am at chapter 12. I know that I made it to chapter 12 on my last play through as I remember landing on the Fallen Arm but not a huge amount more beyond that.

Things really picked up on Prison Island and at Gallahad Fortress. I'm looking forward to the rest of the story as I play through the rest of the game. As I've just landed on the Fallen Arm, things feel like they've slowed down a bit but I'm sure that they'll pick up again.

I'm finding that there are more monsters at my party's level and one of the unique monsters on the Fallen Arm gave me a bit of trouble when fighting with Shulk, Seven and Sharla. I'm trying to get the affinity up between the last two but may stop that and swap Seven for Reyn.

I quickly decided that raising affinity across different members of the team was not going to be something I would spend time on, there just didn't seem to be enough tangible benefits to doing it so I basically just stuck with the same 3 party members throughout!

I wouldn't normally bother but I'm trying to finish off one of the quests which requires you to raise the affinity between two female party members. I had tried Sharla and Melia up to this point but Melia is on another part of the Fallen Arm. I've given a lot of gifts between them so I might already be able to complete the quest when I can fast travel back to Colony 9.

I definitely didn't pay as much attention to the affinity chart or even the skills section on my first playthrough. Revamping the menus has made them a lot more accessible and the quest markers make it easier to complete sidequests when exploring the world so I feel like I'm getting even more out of this playthrough :toot:

I couldn’t really be bothered with the affinity either, so my party was Shulk/Reyn/Sharla till I put Melia in for the odd battle where she was handy.

I reached Chapter 16 last night. I'd forgotten the details of the plot but remembered that Dickson was up to something and that he would betray the party. I completely forgot that Shulk had been dead when the Monado was found  I've still got the Chapter 16 cutscene paused so I'll watch the rest when I start playing next but it has been great to go through the game again and rediscover it. I did get quite far on my first playthrough (up to Bionis' Heart) so I've seen a lot of the game but it has still been hugely enjoyable to replay
