you swap the exp you have spare (you can get more by levelling down) and trade it for various things from "travelling bards" found all over the place, for example the one in argentum gives you an accessory kit expander allowing you to equip your character with a third accessory have to but one for each character
others give really rare items, like legendary core crystals, overdrive protocols and ultimate weaponry
its the exp of which ever character you are controlling that gets spent
Feel like I'm nearing the end of chapter 6 now so I'm just spending time doing side quests and Merc missions, still getting annoyed by the field skills aspect but I think that's one part of the game I won't be changing mind on anytime soon.

yeah mixing and matching blades does get a little tiresome
I feel that the combo system and elemental weaknesses would have been enough to encourage players to mix up their Blade choices. The Field Skills just hamper exploration which is a big draw of Xenoblade.

Now that I feel I'm getting the battle system a bit more I don't mind mixing them up for battles at all, for exploring it's just annoying to have to go into your blades and see who has what field skill (I think sorting them should literally only bring up a blade with X field skill rather than keeping them all there as it doesn't help much really) before equipping them to a driver. In an ideal situation if you had the skills across all of your blades (equipped or not) it should count towards the total. I've actually put off a couple of side quests just as I can't be bothered sorting through them all.

Just had it hang on me again Was in a battle, killed the enemy with a mega explosion combo and it's just stuck with the explosion on screen Second crash I've had now. Should I be concerned?
I didnt see any crashes in my 100 hour playthrough, I also havent heard of anyone having issues with its very strange that you are. You could have a corrupted save or something like that.
Yeah, I'm a bit worried about it being corrupted when I've spent 40 hours on it already
Hopefully I'm just unlucky with it.
Finished the same fight that caused the first crash and it hung for ages before carrying on into the cutscene so maybe it was just that fight that it struggles with ocassionally...

Yeah that was the one! Ended it with a special and it froze first time so I didn't use a special when re-trying it just to be on the safe side in case that was the issue.

Having a bit of trouble with this weaponised Titan in chapter 5
Keep attacking the power lines because the Core itself heals, constantly, but whenever I get to a third/half of it's health bar, the core starts to proper attack and obliterates me. Reading tactics online and they're all banging on about orbs and hitting it with a group combo when everyone's tier 3, but I'm not sure what the orb bit actually means It's got the earth element on it's health bar, so if I finish a combo with Wulfric will that do something special?
Also what's the correct term for the BIG TEAM COMBO you do when you press + when the meter in the top left is full? Trying to find somewhere that explains that a little better but I don't know what I should be searching for

I thought it was just called a team combo? I have no idea if the element is its weakness or not so I'd also like to know
Anyway I'll try and help (I say try as I kind of just backed away at this one till I defeated it), I'm also playing on easy as I'm rubbish at the combat so it may not carry over using the same tatics?
I started off with attacking the main target, focused my other party members on it as well then I went and attacked the wire by myself, to start with the wire didn't damage me at all. Once it was down to a third I got everyone to attack it and it seemed to go down fairly easily, I'd also saved up a level 4 special to use near the end as well in case things got too close for comfort. I did have to stop attacking it once or twice so I could regain some health as well.
