Oh man, if you have Elma from the Challenge mode as an Engaged Blade, the battle music for named enemies changes to this,

Makes the battles feel way more epic, especially against the larger/higher level ones.

I love that theme. The vocal tracks in X are a bit hit and miss, but I loved hearing that one when a unique monster appeared (I think they were called Tyrants in that game?)

On the subject of soundtracks, Xenoblade 2 might be up there in my top ten videogame choices. It's a phenomenal body of work. I didn't know Mitsuda produced/overseen it. The guy is god tier.

Really trying to keep on top of the side quests in the Torna DLC as I recall you need to have done plenty of them to advance the story towards the end (which I think is a poor decision to force on the player if this is actually the case, as side quests should be completely optional). Another thing I’m really liking is the lack of blades, in XC2 there were loads of them, a lot of them all looking and being pretty similar, in the Torna DLC the characters build a much better bond with them from my first few hours with the game as well.

Got to Jin in Chapter 9.

Oh dear. I think I need to go away and learn the game systems better. I got him down to 25% health with a chain attack and he one shotted Rex shortly after. Grim.

Get 5 orbs on him before you chain attack. Then you can get a full burst and hit for a few million damage.

I need to look at my characters and what blades they are using, and the combo paths. I'm thinking about bringing in Morag instead of Tora, because he can only really use two blades.

Or I could just grind Tiger Tiger and change Poppi's element thing.

strawberry floating Tiger Tiger though. It's balls.

Two blades? Have you been back to Tora's house lately?

Also, don't forget you can use Pyra/Mythra's true form to finish up combos for elements you don't have since she can do a Blade Combo using any element. Also, if you have her when doing a Chain Attack she will critical hit every elemental orb at once.

I was in it last night and I played Tiger Tiger (to upgrade their mods). I must have missed something then, I'll check that next time I play.

I didn't know that about their true form hitting all chain attack orbs at once. I obviously didn't take in that tutorial very well. Thanks for the info Laga!

No problem.

I'm 99% certain that you can unlock the Poppi QTπ form by that point in the game, but unlike QT it's an optional side quest form rather than one you get from the story.
You need to view a Heart to Heart in Fonsett village first though to get Tora's dad to give you the quest.

You were right, I just noticed that it is part of Poppi QT's affinity part, but I didn't have it unlocked at all. Probably would've took me a while to notice that anyway. I got her after the quest.

I beat Jin as well. Pretty much did what you said, got him down to half health, stuck some orbs on him in the process, activated ultimate form, chain attacked him to death. The battle system in this game

I fought the next boss and I was doing alright until he knocked me down the hole in the battle area.

As in the final boss battle? I found the final battle was relatively simple until there was a moment they unleashed a party wide attack that KO’d my entire party :(

Full Burst Chain Attack always wins :datass: . I think my record with it so far is about 3.2million damage in a single chain against one of (the easiest one) the Superbosses.

I thought the final boss battle was pretty poorly designed to be honest. At multiple points he pulls back away from the party. You can still hit him with your controlled character by going to the very corner of one of the sides, but the AI for the rest of the party don't follow you there, they just sit in the middle doing nothing

Yeah it could have been done better overall.

Anyway, still enjoying Torna, got my community up to level 2 now (and not terribly far off of 3, some of the side quests you get later add 2 or 3 members to the community rather than 1 which seems to be the norm until level 2) so I think I’m nearing the first fight against Malos. I still find the community aspect slightly annoying though, they are side quests after all but are needed to advance the main quest? I see why the game wants you to do a lot of side quests though.

Also field skills while not as annoying as in the base game are still slightly annoying, thankfully there is no where near as many field skill checks from what I’ve played so far!

well the advice for the previous battle still works here there's not really anything additional to add beyond trying to reconize when hes about to use the attack that threw you into the hole and move round so you get thrown away from the hole but i imagine you worked that much out

Yeah, I only really had one crack at him before I stopped playing. I'm sure he won't be too hard.

The bit where you fought your party. Seemed kind of fillerish.

I assume I must be at the end of the game. Downloaded the Season Pass content, so might hold off a bit and play through that before I finish it. It's been a great ride, and I don't want this to end

Or I could just do a new game plus :datass:

Yeah you're getting near the end.

I may do a New Game Plus, as all of the following carries over,

Elements carried over to New Game Plus:
- Driver levels
- Driver and Blade equipment and Affinity Charts
- Awakened Blades
- Acquired items and gold
- Town development status and Merc Group level
- Status of Events Theater and defeated unique monsters
- Play time

Things to note in New Game Plus:
- Quests, Heart-to-Hearts, and Skip Travel points will all be reset.
- Cleared Merc Missions will be reset.
- Saving after beginning a New Game Plus playthrough will overwrite the save data in which you initially cleared the game.

So you don't have to go through all the gacha stuff again.
There's also 7 new blades unique to New Game Plus.

Do they just love putting in cheap shots into the bigger boss battles in this series?

I’m at the (what I presume is) first fight against Malos and lo and behold he has a party wide attack that just wipes my party out  First time Hugo survived it so I could get back to a full party of 3 but then a minute (if that) he did the same attack which wiped my party fully out!

Granted my party is level 31/32 and he’s at 40 but still  Might have to use the inn function for the first time!
