PostXIII remake [10 November 2020]
by OrangeRKN » Fri Apr 19, 2019 8:38 am

"The game is being remade for modern audiences, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC, and Mac on November 13. Previously published by Ubisoft, the remake is being handled by French publisher Microïds and developed by Playmagic."

I've been wanting a sequel for this for years! Here's hoping it could on the cards, or maybe we'll get a resolution to the cliff hanger ending in the remake. Regardless I'm excited, it's one of my favourite FPS games and should look super pretty in HD (the PS2 game still looks good today).

Slightly worried that "remade for modern audiences" will mean changes like regen health though...

Still have a PS2 copy. Hugely underrated at the time.

Wow! My mates and I were only reminiscing about this a couple of weeks ago! Fantastic game, will definitely be interested in the remake.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

Remember playing the demo for this way back when and really liking it. Was the first cell shaded game I remember, and wasn't the main guy voiced by David Duchovny?

I played and completed this, however, until I saw this topic it was a game I had completely forgot existed. I have a feeling that this isn't a great sign, and that people might play this rerelease and find it distinctly underwhelming.

Apart from the visuals/comic book stylings, a few basic locations and the plot, I can't remember that much about how it really played as a game. The shooting felt quite weak and unsatisfying, maybe And that it was fairly linear. I played it to the end purely because of the decent story.

I have a feeling that it might be a game that we look back fondly on due to the aesthetics, but that probably wasn't a great shooter in 2004 and even less so in 2019.

EDIT - You're right, Taf. Adam West played your General ally too, I think.

Loved this game, although did not love that ending and a sequel never being made. :x

I remember loving this at the time but I’ve no idea if it holds up. I’d be interested in checking it out though.

Hmm, might pick this up, or may instead pick up the GC copy for £5. Perhaps I'll wait and see how it reviews.

I can't really remember how the game controlled.on the GC, even though it was the platform I played it on. I can't remember having problems with them at that time, but I imagine that now we are firmly in the dual-stick era, the GC's controller might not be the best for FPS games with the benefit of hindsight.

The only reason I think I remember this game is because various gaming magazines at the time kept mentioning what a boring country Belgium is.

Remember loving this game, but I can't even remember if it was GameCube or Wii...

Will definitely pick it up on Switch.

Loved this on the GC so delighted to hear it's being resurrected. The original was a flawed gem. Could have been a big deal at the time if it weren't for some outright bizarre design decisions (can't replay stages despite the game being divided into stages; no character or stage selection option for multiplayer) but the story and aesthetic were fantastic and some of the weapons and bosses were inspired.

Surprised this is so warmly remembered. It always looked stunning but the actual game was a barrel of piss.

Not played it back in 2003 or whenever it first launched, but recall the cell shading being excellent and unique at the time - but gameplay didn’t review well at all.

Looks quite nice, although that's quite a boring choice of screenshots to show.

Happy to see that health bar though!
