Lyon! The big plaza just outside our place gets turned into a massive Christmas market every year. After that, which happened to be the best mulled wine I've ever had, I got a massive bowl of sauteed potatoes and saucisse and the wife got a bowl of cheesy mashed potato with spec ham.

Christmas!

Nice, last year i did Monschau & Valkenburg's markets and they were amazing (the latter takes place in a cave system).

This year, i'm intending to head to Birmingham & Winchester for their markets (did cardiff last week too).

Remember to keep it in the fridge next to the toilet roll and Ketchup.

For the Birmingham one it's best you come early as it gets very packed after 4pm, and if you are in the late crowds it's probably best to keep your wallet somewhere that pickpockets won't get. Other than that I hope you enjoy it!

Yeah, i know how manic it can get which is why i normally look around the market itself when i first arrive, and then head off to the bullring for some regular shopping.

While its not a Christmas special (well I guess it is of sorts?), A Muppets Christmas Carol always does it for me, had the shock news at work that someone actually hasn’t seen it either! Always tend to watch it when I’m wrapping my presents as well.

Not feeling particularly christmassy at the moment as we're not allowed headphones on at work, so no Christmas tunes there, there's no decorations up anywhere here and I can't listen to music on my bike so no tunes there either :?

Have to hammer the films and that at home from now on.

Love that film, Michael Caine is by far the best scrooge.

I saw someone posting about it on facebook and was flabbergasted that anyone would deliberately try and avoid one of the best christmas bangers. You can't celebrate christmas without Wham!

Also the Birmingham Christmas Market is the worst thing to do with this season. Just a total tedious, dull mess of expensive alcohol, inconsiderate crowds and the same three stalls repeated down New Street so they can claim it's "the biggest one yet" :dread:

Are there any Christmas markets that are decent? Did Worcesters last weekend and it was okay, but they never seem anything worthy of the hype.

Me, I haven't heard it yet. I probably will soon though as I have a big Christmas food shop to do soon!

Frank, that's why I only go into brum during school/work hours when the market is up. It's the only time the crowds aren't there, and you can actually get about without bumping into about 50 people at once

Manchester seem to have a big Christmas market.

I've switched to Ocado so no risk there, but I'm having to be very careful with my spotify playlists.

The Bristol Christmas market might be a good one to check out. The Yogscast were exploring it on Monday. There's a lot there - including a stall where you can find out your Game of Thrones... house? Clan? No idea what they're called. Just be careful as there's actually two. A small one and a large one on the main street. Nearly everything's at the large one, though you can get a Yorkshire Pudding wrap at the small one.

I put wham on as my first Christmas song the other day. Imagine avoiding that
