my own meet up thread, blackjack, hookers, etc.

After the resounding success of the London Meet earlier this month, the MK Monday-ers have been discussing the idea of another one up where the tap water is safe for human consumption. Thus, I present to you:

GRCade London Meet Up: Manchester Edition

The Plan
Arcade Club Bury. A short walk from Bury Interchange, easily accessible via bus or tram from Manchester city centre.

Three floors of arcade games from their inception right up to present day, with all machines on free-play. Hot food is available (albeit bang-average) and alcoholic beverages are reasonably cheap, around £3-4. Wristbands are £16 for the day.

The Date
Saturday 10th September
12PM pre-meet at Piccadilly Tavern, M1 2BS
2PM meet at Arcade Club, BL9 7BW

That should hopefully give everyone enough notice, while avoiding the incredibly busy bank holiday Pride weekend, but this is subject to change depending on people's availablity.

So, are you in?

I believe I’m going to see Arcade Fire that day but if anything changes, I’ll let you know man.

It seems whenever GR organises a meet, I am going to be in a football stadium for a concert. When the London meet was on, I was at Tottenham for GnR, for this meet I'll be at Wembley for the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert.

Have fun guys!

I'm in, pending getting someone to look after Ella that weekend.

Having been to arcade club, I strongly, strongly recommend that you don’t go in school holiday time or a weekend

If I can get my new sofa by then I could potentially put a couple of people up.

Just putting the feelers out there:

Would people prefer if we pushed the date back as Falsey suggested? Perhaps Friday the 9th, or Saturday the 10th?

Kids go back before then, right?

Kids go back around the 5th/6th to my knowledge. The 10th would be better for me personally, but im happy to go with the status quo

9th or 10th September would be ideal for me actually, yeah.

Gonna go ahead and lock in Saturday the 10th, seeing as that lines up for everyone so far.

I'm thinking it might be best to book tickets in advance, just in case they fill up. They do let people in later in the day when they hit capacity, but it's usually after 4pm.

I can currently get a same-day return to Piccadilly for about £46.50. How far away is this game place from there?

It's right at the end of the Bury tram line, which is about 50 mins direct from Piccadilly.

A 1-day travelcard is £4.90 at the weekend.
