Its a good idea, but the cost would be mental as the should need to keep buying tracking devices.

They could be returned to the shop in bulk by Yodel. Then maybe Amazon would realise how annoying it is waiting for a delivery from Yodel.

its not tracking devices they need. they just need to use a decent delivery service that is run properly. Ill be honest i never have issues with ups for instance im not saying they are perfect but ive not had stuff going missing. i used to work at argos and when they switched to yodel it started straight away with missing stuff. they never had the same issues when it was all in house

It's not quite a tracking device on your parcel, but DPD's driver tracking service is brilliant. You get assigned proper delivery window on the day, and get to see roughly where the driver is, what his name is, what number delivery they're making and what your number is. Yodel would probably end up firing half its workforce if they implemented this.

Agreed, I was very impressed the few times I have had stuff delivered by DPD.

Amazon (and others) need to give us the option of deciding who delivers our stuff. I would happily pay a little extra if I knew my stuff was going to be delivered by DPD or Royal Mail (Royal Mail aren't great but there is a depot within walking distance of me). Giving us the choice would put Yodel out of business just like the heap of gooseberry fool that was CityLink.

Not Yodel but Amazon Logistics have just swiped a 3rd parcel from me. Normally Amazon c/s are quick to help but I've been told I need to wait because the package may have been scanned as "delivered" early or some such bull. It really is a joke now and I doubt I'll be using Amazon until I hear that things have significantly improved.

Ordered some really expensive perfume for the Mrs from Boots as I didn't trust Amazon sellers to be selling the genuine thing.

On the plus side, the area of ground immediately behind your garden gate is going to smell lovely.

It turned up a day early in good condition

Saying that the tracking info says it's still at the depot and will be delivered tomorrow :fp:

It appears that not only has our cat Sooty developed the skills to open the front door and sign for a parcel, but he has also changed his name to 'Jon' by deed poll. It's pretty impressive seeing as he is only 8 months old and normally scared of humans. That Yodel bloke must have had some awesome cat treats with him.

The little sod has gone and hidden my parcel though. Can't think what he would want with an HDMI cable but anyhoo....

We helped get a Yodel driver fired the other week 8-)

He dumped a bunch of deliveries of the side of a road and ripped the info off thinking he wouldn't be tracked. Someone noticed and tweeted it so we got in touch with them and he was terminated. Lazy banana splits.

This thread the comic. The alt text is funny too.

Your life now forks into two potential destinies. To your left is an emotionally taxing venture where you knock on the neighbor's door and explain to them the parcelman's foible. To your right, you snatch the package, hoping fervently that your absconding is unseen or, at least, unheeded.

Didn't realise they were loss making. Poor buggers who got done by this. Upsetting mum on Mother's Day is about as not on as it gets!

Ordered flowers to be delivered Saturday (free delivery Saturday vs £4.95 delivery for Sunday due to it being Mothering Sunday) from Serenata before realising they use Yodel. Nothing turns up Saturday. I ring Sunday morning and the extremely helpful customer service woman reports.. "Hmmm well the computer is saying they've been delayed.... so I guess they've been delayed I'm afraid. Apparently they left the Southampton depot at 00:45". I then pointed out that they had left at 00:45 the previous day, 30 hours earlier. This is the point where she put me on hold to check if Southampton was a local depot to the Isle of Wight :dread: . "Oh I suppose they were probably for Mothers' Day too?" "Yep...." "Oh... Well I'm afraid they won't arrive until tomorrow. If they haven't arrived by Tuesday please ring me back."

Two hours later they turn up :fp:
