Nothing has been delivered. Funny this only happens with electronics isn't it :simper:

I've noticed when ordering expensive electronics from Amazon I now have to give the delivery driver a unique code before it's handed over. It's not used with any other item ordered that I've encountered.

I just had this for the first time there when ordering new AirPods.

I had this about a year ago with a new tablet I'd ordered for one of my kids. I live at the end of a cul de sac and work overlooking the drive and front door which had an open porch door as i was expecting delivery.

Van pulled up, driver got out and I carried on working (was on a Zoom call). Delivery notification came theough on my phone. 15.mins later I went to the open porch to collect stuff.

1 Box in there but addressed to my wife and not the right shape. No sign of tablet. Checked with all 3 of my neighbours just in case wrongly delivered even though I hadn't seen him go anywhere else.

We don't get people walking past as dead end cul de sac.
Called Amazon straight away and reported the driver for theft. They issued free replacement without question and that was the last I heard.

Replacement arrived next day. Made the driver wait whilst I opened the box and was recording it all on my phone

Can't believe people would do such a thing and risk getting criminal record etc.

Could you not have saved yourself a hassle by answering the door?

nope. I was on a Zoom call. Plus I'd left the porch door open so it could be left inside there (no one ever passes by)

Had a parcel delivered today to my parents by Yodel.

They just left it at the front door in full view of the road and didn't even bother to leave a "We missed you while you were out" card. Fortunately my parents live on a quiet cul-de-sac so the parcel wasn't stolen, but if it had been I would've had no idea an attempted delivery had even been made due to the lack of a card.
Honestly wouldn't be surprised if they hadn't even attempted the doorbell and just dumped it at the doorstep and immediately buggered off.

I live in a sort of cul de sac. My partner was recently awaiting a delivery and we both WFH, so don't really expect to miss a delivery.
Doorbell rings, I answer withing a few seconds but no one there and no parcel. Look up and down the street, empty.

Then a beat later a guy in DHL uniform emerges from next door's carport (our living room bridges a carport that leads to the garage and the back garden).

So what he'd done was ring our bell, then without waiting walked through our neighbour's carport (they were out, so there were no cars to squeeze by is my guess). Whereas since we were in there were cars blocking his path.

So there he is and he just lobbed the parcel over next door's garden fence.

I ask him just what the strawberry float is he doing. He asks me if I want him to get the parcel. Aye, of course I do you strawberry floating rocket.

He then just buggered off.

Twat.

Amazon can suck my arsehole. I ordered the 4k LOTR set for 50 bones, used prime next day delivery. Apparently my parcel was "handed to a resident" to whom exactly? A resident of timbucktoo? Cos I don't have my strawberry floating parcel.

Oh I found the thread.

I can't find the Yodel/post thread. UPS have just lost in their system £333 worth of textile transfers, to go on roughly half a grand worth of premium organic T-shirts, that I'm obligated to deliver costing over a 1 grand including labour. My biggest sale ever to my biggest name client. I was going to personally print 100 of them by hand myself and it was all lined up to this day to do it - for weeks/days.

All out on time yesterday for a 12pm Express delivery today (my supplier rushed them through first thing in the morning and upgraded for UPS Express by 12pm for free - I originally paid £9 - that was yesterday). On which my promises to my client are based. All 100 of the T-shirts arrived this morning at 10:30am bang on time with DPD as I paid the equivalent of £20 for next day pre-noon service knowing I needed the whole day.

These are for a gig in another city, tomorrow, with thousands of ticket holders. The band are headlining festivals and doing main stage concerts. It's a huge deal for a small printer like me.

Called numerous depots trying to find it. My PA asked to speak to a manager and they just went silent and then returned (the same person) to the phone with, "Hello mam how are you today?" What an absolute joke. They did this 3 times in a row. Kept repeating the same things, we are unable to say when this will happen, or what will happen, or even where the package is. It was meant to be strawberry floating delivered 3 hours ago and reached the depot at 11pm last night. It should have moved at 4am this morning. Where the strawberry float is it?

I stand to lose over a grand in revenue and a massive client, because of one shitty company strawberry floating up £15 worth of couriering services, which they communicated would be fulfilled at the allotted time and then some gooseberry fool happens and they change their mind (as they have done multiple times on the phone).

I worked super hard on this job - over 10hrs on emails alone, lots of other logistical stuff and was supposed to work all day and all night today printing them.

What a bunch of useless banana splits. I am strawberry floating aghast at what to do, but have already set up a few contingency plan that all involve losing considerable amounts of money over 9 strawberry floating quid.

Their excuse? Seasonal demand. Black Friday is today. So it's Black Friday Week's fault. They're working as hard as they can to do such and such.

THIS HAPPENS LITERALLY EVERY YEAR. Anticipate that! Don't accept next day shipping labels during the week! Don't take our money! strawberry float OFF!!

What strawberry floating cheeses me off is I could probably have arranged DPD or any other courier to collect the transfers instead but UPS have to be the ones that go and strawberry float up. Apparently it's stuck on a trailer and hasn't even been loaded into the London depot yet.

The local depot (who haven't even received the yet) even tried to blame climate activists.
strawberry float you Amazon then.

Ah hell, that's awful. I've got my own trio of delivery gripes ongoing, but they all pale in comparison. Hope it gets sorted without too much loss. Is it a "guaranteed" service? Is compensation a possibility, or small claims? I appreciate that is not your priority right now, though.

It probably isn't. I think the only guarantee (and the guarantee part has been suspended for long periods during and after covid) is from Royal Mail for Special Delivery Next Day Guaranteed by 1pm. I strawberry floating wish I had convinced them to take the package to a delivery office but they have other gooseberry fool to do but you don't think you need to do such things when you use a next day courier's expedited service that is reputable.

The fact these things are sold as next day and you pay for expediting shipping on top of that just pisses me off. That's a gooseberry fool load of money over the course of a year for a service standard that is half what it says it is and therefore could and should charge less, not more.

The best I can do if I lose the sale is pay to ship the massive box of shirts back to the wholesaler who will charge 25% restocking fee which is an out of pocket expense, refund the client in full, and the transfer manufacturer will refund me as a loan and then I pay them back if the client comes back to me (or someone else buys something, which I will then making nothing) on.

Now is the strawberry floating worst time of year to be cash negative in any respect.

My client even offered to drive to London and back to get the transfers but UPS "wouldn't allow it". I'm not strawberry floating kidding. They're screwed up and won't even let somebody drive there and get it for them.

Fourth attempt to get Yodel to collect my empty beer kegs. Driver has 158 stops before me. Poor sod. I had the same situation two weeks ago. It eventually got to three stops before me and the driver clearly clocked off (but I wasn’t informed they weren’t coming). I expect the same today. I know it’s the worst time for how busy they are, but I want these bloody things gone.

Would be great if every retailer allowed you to choose the delivery partner. What kind of mentalist wants to order a computer and find out it’s being delivered by the piss artist formerly known as Hermes.

I absolutely hate this anytime I get Yodel. Not the driver themselves but the way the company operates that the parcel doesn’t arrive as a result.

They don’t tell you that instead it updates saying ‘there’s been a problem’ and then it randomly turns up days later.

Evri our way are horrendous. Drivers just seem to go missing and our local Facebook groups are full of people asking who the Evri drivers are (several) and they seem to just have stacks of parcels at home.

Say what you want about Royal Mail but 99% of the time they put the rest to shreds in delivery. DPD are usually spot on too for the most part. DHL are okay but always rushing to leave before you’ve had a chance to sign/pose for the photo

I expect that, ultimately, it's a management issue more than anything else. They're almost certainly putting too many parcels onto not enough couriers, and likely expecting one person to delivery what better delivery companies like FedEx or DHL would split between 3 or 4. Ontop of that I'd wager that the depots are understaffed for the volume of parcels passing through them, and it ultimately is going to just lead to massive issues despite the best efforts of the front line staff.
Combine that with pay based on quotas, or payment based on the parcel not being brought back to the depot, and the staff are just put in a no win situation.

I was listening to the radio early in the morning this week and regarding Evri someone was waiting for their parcels and they got a message from the driver saying their item had been sold while in transit, She complained and the driver got sacked
