Anyone else finding the checkpointing at points really frustrating?

No, it was okay for me, but I wasn't trying to go for 100%. Some critics had the same complaint though. I can imagine it would be annoying if I was trying to get everything.

The curtain level had some bad frame drop when I played it. Good idea for a level anyway.

Yeah I think that's what it is. If I find a secret I have to keep doing that secret repeatedly. In some of the more maze like levels I've reached checkpoints really quickly or ages apart and in this level I was doing yesterday (I wont name it for spoilers) it had a boss which killed me and I had to basically do 3 difficult rooms over and and over. Quite why there wasn't a checkpoint before the boss baffles me.
Super Dragon 64 wrote:[5-2 was a really cool level thanks to Yoshi's freeze breath. Sliding enemies to pick up gems and collectibles in tricky areas is a great use of the ice. I couldn't work out what to do for the fifth yarn bundle though.

It took me a little while to work that one out but it got it during my first play. Genius.

Was there ever a reason given for the outrageous Yoshi delay in America? I mean, October! Come on!

This game

I took a break to go back for all the flowers in world one so that I could play the special level. I even managed to get gold stars on a couple of levels as I found all the collectibles :toot:

My thumb was quite numb by the end of it as I insisted on at least getting all the yarn bundles. I missed the final flower as I was dangerously low on health and didn't want to risk being bumped off by a shy guy, again. The Wii U Yoshi was definitely worth the effort :toot: :toot: :toot:

I really enjoyed the last couple of levels in world five as they had some great moments when trying to get some of the yarn bundles and flowers. I especially liked hopping between the big blocks of ice in the second half of 5-8. The big ski mask shy guy was a cool ( ;) ) boss :P I even noticed that Yoshi dons ice skates when he's moving quickly on the ice. He glides like a wooly angel

6-2 has some fiercely difficult items to collect but they seem doable with enough practice. Maybe a badge or two are in order here :shifty:

Someone drew the thumbs up scene from the end of Terminator 2 as a Miiverse post for 6-3  It feels like one of the flowers is impossible to get without the lava invincibility badge. Maybe I need to git gud.

6-4 is a fantastic level! Jumping between counter platforms and balloons, while avoiding bullet bill bombardments, makes it really wonderfully challenging! :toot:

The yarn ball rebound puzzles in 6-5are excellent! It look me some time to realise how to defeat the Boos but I really enjoyed it when it clicked. Yoshi actually shudders in fear if you don't move him

6-7 has a great music track but, my God, is Kamek annoying! It took quite a few attempts to finish with all the yarn bundles but I missed the third flower. I need to go back to get a stamp patch and ten hearts anyway but it would have been good to finish with the all. Kamek Yoshi looks like Robin with a black eye mask :slol:

The game definitely ends on a high note as I really enjoyed exploring King Boswer's castle, which turned out to be Baby Bowser's :slol: The game could have done with leaving a checkpoint on the roof but I thought that the door unlock puzzle was pretty clever. Going back around the whole castle to pick up four different shy guys was an interesting challenge.

This is an incredible adventure and anyone who likes the look of it should pick up a copy. There's no way that this is too easy if you take the time to look for all the hidden items. At the very least, it's worth grabbing all the flowers because the special levels promise to be some of the best while the yarn bundles give Yoshi great new knitted designs. It took me about 16 and a half hours to finish it, while trying to find as many secrets a possible, so there's good value for money, even if you don't feel like finding absolutely everything. :toot:  :toot:  :toot:

Loved 6-7. That section where you have to flutter jump into the warp pipe suspended from the ceiling was fun.

The kissing spider is d'awwwwwwww.

So the general reception I hear is that critics aren't a huge fan of this, but anyone who likes Yoshi games should absolutely pick this up, am I reading it right?

It does sound that way, from what I've read online. I wasn't big on Yoshi's Island, because I was expecting it to be a lot more like Super Mario World, but I really enjoyed playing this. I'm tempted to give Yoshi's Island another chance.

5-S is awesome. Though I made it to the end by accident basically. :fp: 6-S.............. Holy strawberry float. :dread: So hard. But I 100% it. Just as my GamePad battery light was flickering. 8-)

I'm not sure at what point I'm going got be done with this. I'll probably just collect the flower and wool for the special levels and leave it at that.

Picked this up for about £25 earlier this week, I'm really liking it.

I've just finished world 1. It sounds strange, but I hadn't actually watched much of this before getting it and I didn't know it played this similarly to Yoshi's Island - I know that sounds like a stupid thing to say as it's completely obvious that it would! I'm glad, it's so easy to pick up and a lot of fun just exploring for secrets.

Been trying out my amiibos too. Currently running about as Little Mac yoshi.

So yeah, got this the other day, started playing it yesterday I it the missus and we've just finished world 4, not with all collectibles though. I think we have all the Yoshis in world's 1-3 most of them in 4 also. Though that do want include the levels for getting all the stars for each level in a world. Anyway really good game.
