Roast chicken, gammon, roast potatoes, roast parsnips/carrots, stuffing and gravy.

I haven't personally eaten this but my brother claims it to be the single greatest sandwich of all time.

Why would we believe your brother?

Anyhow, I see this and raise him the Christmas dinner sandwich. The above, but with cranberry sauce, and a bit of cheese and bacon.

Plus with the potatoes and carrots honked in the bin, or used in a bubble & squeak instead.

Regardless, it must be soft white sliced buttered bread and anyone suggesting a French stick needs to get in the bin along with the carrots as well.

I present the ‘Sheffield Cheese Steak’:

- Get a decent sirloin steak from the butchers and submerge it in a shallow bath of Henderson’s Relish for 6 hours. Any longer and the acidic marinade will make the steak mushy. Do NOT make the mistake of using Worcester Sauce. Yuck.

- Get some decent sized Breadcakes from the local baker or if you must a good farmhouse loaf.

- In a little olive oil fry up some chopped and skinned shallots for a couple of minutes. Move to the side of the pan when done.

- Baste both sides of your steak with olive oil and some seasoning and pan-fry it on both sides for about 1 minute each although this can be increased if you like it tougher. Turn off the heat and leave for a minute on both sides to soak up the shallot oil.

- Slice your breadcake or loaf and put some Derby Cheese on both open sides. Microwave for 20 seconds or so to melt the cheese. Derby Cheese is like Cheddar but much softer so it gets nice and gooey very easily.

- Dry off your steak in some kitchen roll and then layer up on your Breadcake with the fried shallots.

- Enjoy your godly sandwich.

Toasted bread, ham and cheese (double gloucester or red leicester if you're feeling adventurous)

Of all the different local words for rolls in the world, I think Breadcake is the funniest. It's like a cake, right, but it's made of bread! :lol:

Birdseye frozen breaded chicken portion
Two slices of bread
Mayonnaise and tomato ketchup blended together

18 minutes in the oven for the chicken, 20 seconds to sort out the mayochup and the bread 8-)

Denster has already thrown the Reuben into the ring so Im going to propose the Christmas Club:

Sliced white bread, mayo, thick sliced Chrstmas ham, chopped up Christmas sprouts (the kind cooked with bacon/chorizo), English mustard, gravy soaked slice of toast, leftover turkey (dark meat is best), cranberry sauce, brie, leftover sausage stuffing, mayo, sliced white bread.

Its worth making a Christams dinner just to get this sandwich afterwards.
