Awesomenauts
Best theme song ever, great art style and a lot of fun; the kind of game I never really play, so something refreshing and new to me.
Double Dragon Neon
Seems to either be loved or hated by those who played it with not much middle ground, but I adored it; played through it twice and am going through a third time. Don't have any affinity for the series as I've never played it before, but the humour, gameplay and especially the music (Video Game Song of 2012: Mango Tango - Neon Jungle) all made this a brilliant experience for me.
Jetpack Joyride
For a freebie, this is amazing. An incredibly addictive one-button game, much like the helicopter flash game that was all the rage a few years back. This has taken hours from me, and will continue to do so, until I reach over 5,000m and earn enough money to buy everything.
Knytt Underground
The physics in this are way off, the platforming itself is a bit detached and the story is completley unfollowable guff, but something compels me to keep playing. It looks and sounds gorgeous, and scratches my Metroidvania itch well.
Tokyo Jungle
I love the mechanics of this game. I love the way you're dreading what might be around the corner, because how the strawberry float can a group of baby chicks take on a pride of lions? Well, play well, and you can do just that. Trying to survive as many years as possible is one of the most addictive gaming experiences I had in 2012.
Still need to buy and play through the following:
Black Knight Sword
Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit
Retro City Rampage
Rock of Ages
The Walking Dead
