just to past some time and to be curious i decided to make this topic (apologises if its been done) :? so..

what would be the best DLC that you have ever downloaded? be it paid for or a free download or something that came with a collectors edition or goty edition game?

mine would probably be (atm)...

Shivering Isles (oblivion)

why:
i thought it was massive and had a lot of new quests and diffrent items, and the place and new enemies gave a diffrent feel to what i was used to from playing through oblivions main quest in cyrodill, i loved some items such as the cleaver weapon and the golden armour and the main quest was quite long also which i thought was always a bonus, and the isles were massive which gave for much more hours of exploration :D ,

so what would be your best DLC so far?

Little Big Planet MGS pack, Crackdown's DLC and Burnout Paradise updates are the best so far for me.

Agreed. It's not huge but the replay value in the extra five levels (and the little hidden bonuses), along with the extra trophies and a new gameplay device (that can completely change your approach to creating a level) make it one of my favourite paid-for downloads.

It doesn't just extend the game play, it significantly changes it. And that's why I like it best because what's the point in paying to make a game longer if it doesn't bring anything new to the table (for the whole game, not just the expansion)?

Lost and Damned easily, for me. Second would have to be the Hero/Villan pack for Ultimate Allience.

Would have to be Shivering Isles for Oblivion. I remember the hype of it on old GR forums & it was up much earlier than planned date, and most of us (including me) downloaded it all night. Next day the LIVE was down for long time so others have to wait, when I play it all the way offline 8-)

I'm hoping there'll be Fallout 3 DLC like that. :D Hopefully Broken Steel (or even The Pitt)

The Lost & Damned. Because it's the only DLC I've paid for. That & it's blatantly brilliant, anyway.

The Operation Flashpoint and Armed Assualt scud launcher.

So strawberry floating awesome. As soon as I got it, I loaded up the desert island for testing purposes, put about 30 civies down in the plain, and launcher the mother strawberry floater. When the smoke cleared there were no bodies. In OFP you had 3 different types of missiles. Nuclear, chemical and biological. It was a sick pleasure to see the civies run about for 10 seconds before toppling over in the cloud of green. Also these were like proper tactical nukes (if tactical is smaller than strategic) in terms of the range of the missile and explosion. It would destroy every single thing in its blast radius (buildings etc).

Then when it was remade in Arma I discovered something while testing. I got in a helicopter and flew about 150 feet up to see how it looked as it blew up a town. I was about 1-2 km away. I was hovering there as it hit, as the dust cloud came towards me but I suddenly lose control since I was actually hit by the shock wave first, which made my tail rotor disintegrate. So I started to spiral out of control, into the encroaching dust cloud. It was so strawberry floating awesome.

Also it was a mod some guy in the community made. Armed Assault has the best modding community on the planet.

Getting Born to Run for free on Guitar Hero was pretty sweet because I don't think anyone expected Activision to give away anything decent.

Okay, I'm going to upset a few people here with my nomination for best DLC...

Tiger Woods '08 & '09 (360).
Of all the DLC I've ever bought, EA's Tiger Woods games have offered by far the most value for money. Why? Well, when you can download several additional 18-hole golf courses (and today I bought another two for TW:'09, making 18 x 18 hole golf courses for this game alone), all of which can be played in a variety of ways, as many times as you wish (online or off), I believe this kind of DLC is just unbeatable. Incredibly good value and every bit as expertly made as the courses which 'came in the box'.

Go!

It's good that they are releasing new courses but they are so over-priced which put me off buying them.

I really can't imagine why that would upset anyone, to me, that's exactly what DLC should be.

600MP per course. Seriously, how many Queensheads is that? The replayability factor is infinite...

Everybodys Golf World Tour is better all round.

Still theres just no getting away from Rock Band 1/2 offering the best DLC, its almost not fair to compare it to other games...in which case I'd probably go with something like Burnout Paradise...although The Lost and the Damned and its companion might end up making GTA IV have the DLC of choice, I suppose it depends on where Paradise goes in the end too, if we see all the extras, including the planes that they've shown it could be unbeatable.

The DLC for Midnight Club LA in less than 2 weeks time looks like it could be a winner. Apparently it offers a free download for the new big map and then premium will bring new cars and missions. Looks like a lot of new content.

For those that have played Midnight Club: Los Angeles, you know the game is fairly big already. Well, Rockstar Games is set to expand that even more. The upcoming set of DLC that was previously announced will be expanding the game size by about one third, or another 4 neighborhoods. The free portion of the DLC is pretty much set up just to expand the size of the map. To get new cars, new challenges and races, new upgrades for the cars, you will need to get the 800 Microsoft Point version. Here is what each version offers.

The South Central Map Expansion features:

* Map expansion by one third
* Four new neighborhoods
* Price: FREE for both Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3

South Central Premium Upgrade features:

* Nine new vehicles:
* Luxury: 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG “Black”
* SUV: 2008 Range Rover Supercharged, 2008 Range Rover Sport Super Charged
* Lowrider: 1955 Chevy Bel Air, 1963 Buick Riviera, 1964 Chevy Impala, 1965 Chevy Malibu
* Muscle: 1970 Chevy Chevelle, 1966 Pontiac GTO
* 26 new races
* 12 new battle maps
* 10 new delivery missions
* 100+ new red light races
* New rims
* New body kits for each new car
* New vinyl pre-sets
* Hydraulics/Airbags unlocked on all new cars
* New music
* Price: $9.99 for PLAYSTATION 3 and 800 MS points for Xbox 360

Rockstar’s PR rep said that there will be new achievements but would not specify what they were or how much they will be worth. These two packs for Midnight Club: Los Angeles will be released on March 12th. Anyone interested in expanding their MCLA experience?

My favourite to date though would have to be Rockband or Crackdown.

Nothing will ever beat the awesomeness of the WipEout Pure Omega pack. 4 new teams and 4 new tracks all designed by the kooky minds of some of europe's best graphic designers (Just a shame they didnt get DR to do one....) and all for free. In fact, pretty much all the DLC for WipEout Pure was awesome. It trebled the amount of tracks, teams and tournaments in the game and costed nothing. Also has the honour of being the first widely available DLC for any console game.

The extra missions Sega used to do for PSO on the dreamcast were nothing short of great either. Teaming up to take on a Boss Rush or other bonus made it so much sweeter.

I'd never ask any of my mates to break NDAs so I just don't know. It seems very likely though. Almost certain.

My favourite game DLC is Singstar.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Crackdown adds a harpoon gun. Therefore, it wins by default.
