Far too many to do a poll, so just discuss away below! 8-)

For myself I've got a few SW titles that I like to return to from time to time.

Jedi Academy is a particular favourite. Sure like many SW titles it's quite ropey in places, but it's a lot of fun and the light saber dueling is superb.

Dark Forces. Fired this up quite recently. It's certainly dated by today's standards, but there's a lot to like and it has an undeniable charm.

Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron 2. First game I bought for my GC. Rock hard in places, but an absolute blast. The cheat code where you get to play Vader in the trench run from New Hope is top drawer stuff.

I'm sure there's a few more I'll think of, but that'll do to get the ball rolling.

Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast was awesome, I have fond memories of using a trainer or the command console to drop in about 30 Sith dudes and have a massive lightsaber brawl in a hangar 8-)

Battlefront 2 (the older, better one) - spent so much time with this playing it couch co-op with a friend, good times

KOTOR - loved it

Battlefront 2. From 2005, not the 2017 one.

I would say Republic Commando, but while I enjoyed the small amount I played, I can't really remember it. That sums up many of the games I've played, though, with the only other game as good as Battlefront in my eyes being Empire at War.

Battlefront II on PSP is absolutely fantastic, and Elite Squadron evolves the series in a way it does not get enough credit for with its joint ground and space battles. I would happily play both forever.

Otherwise I'm a big fan of Rogue Squadron on N64. Never properly played the sequels outside of some co-op and the death star run, but the original is brilliant.

Episode 1 Racer is an excellent racing game too, either on N64 or in the arcades.

Yeah that's a corker. Played through it when it first launched. AI of your squad was a bit scatty if I remember correctly, but a quality game nonetheless. I got hold of RC again when buying a SW bundle in the Steam sale and have been meaning to return to it to see how it holds up.

> Star Wars (1983, arcade): The vector graphics were ace for the time and the sound was fantastic. A wonderful experience and the memories live strong!

> Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast (2002, PC and Xbox): I really liked the atmosphere and the slick action. I don't think I've ever got as far as actually using the lightsaber, though :shifty: .

I wish there had been a lightsaber game for the Wii; it seems criminal that there wasn't*.

*Apparently one was in development... but it never released.

Yep. I think I did in a small circular room - but dozens of Sith and Jedi in all out war fair.

A real soft spot for Rebellion (or Supremacy in the UK). That was amazing fun.

The X-Wing/TIE Fighter combat Sim series on PC. Everything from X-Wing up to X-Wing Alliance. Top notch stuff.

NOTHING has came close to these for me. Utter perfection.

Notable "Good but not as good" games include - Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games, KOTOR

Oh and the PSVR mission on Battlefront is the single best Star Wars gaming experience I've ever had, even though it made me throw up.

Oh yes how could I forget this! Doh! Many a fond memory of playing it (full cabinet) at Butlins when I was a nipper. :D

X Wing Alliance
Jedi Knight 2
Battlefront II (the original)
KOTOR 1
Republic Commando

I used to play the Episode 1 game and Jedi Power Battles to death. They were both frustrating experiences though which I wouldn't recommend

The Wii version of The Force Unleased had some waggle controls but wasn't what all Wii owners dreamed of (It was the same as the PS2 and PSP game afaik, but different to the PS3/360 version - the game was released on an insane number of platforms and I lose track of the different versions).

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Lightsaber Duels came closer, as a motion controlled fighter. It was still far from 1-to-1 though. This US commercial shows it off somewhat

Best personal experience: Tie (lol) between KOTOR 1 and TIE Fighter.

Both took the licence and moved beyond it in ways few games, and so far none of the EA games, have done. Tie Fighter effectively presented the other side of the coin and pulled no punches about it: you were the bad guy. End of story (contrast this with the lily-livered representation of an Empire point of view in Battlefront II). The flight mechanics were excellent, the missions varied and the stories well drawn.

KOTOR was, at the time, my favourite game ever. I don't even know what to say that hasn't been said, except the fact that the Star Forge was a bit silly and that the twist, although sometimes overly revered, was strawberry floating ace.

Secret Actual Best Star Wars game: KOTOR 2.

A buggy mess of a game written by a guy who doesn't really like Star Wars and it's still perhaps the best story told within the franchise. It's the Last Jedi, 15 years before that film dared challenge the status quo. It's a multilayered kaleidoscopic tale of false prophets and the danger of blind faith. It's a half finished project that only became something approaching it's original vision years after release thanks to fan patches and restored cut-content.

It's the most daring Star Wars has ever been, and learning last week that Chris Avellone is writing Respawn's upcoming game made me super, super excited.

??? Jar Jar Binks was in The Phantom Menace, not The Last Jedi

Meesa forgettabout dat ezypeezy. Meesa sowwy.

EDIT: Changed that bit actually. The comparison was more about changing the way narratives are told in the universe rather than the humour (of which KOTOR 2 is actually pretty lacking. I mean, not in a bad way. It deals with some sensitive topics with the gravitas they require).

Yeah but KoToR 2 was actually good. Where as The Last Jedi was a dumpster fire from start to finish.

The 90s (and earlier 00s) were SO good for Star Wars games though

Can't believe that bringing up Jar Jar just improved the quality of discourse around the Star Wars franchise

Actually since KOTOR 2, The Clone Wars and Rebels challenged the status quo long before TLJ. The Grey Jedi & Mortis being the best two examples. In fact that's the path I thought Johnson was taking TLJ with Kylo & Rey before he chickened out at the last hurdle. Johnson didn't dare anything. He bottled it just to appease one set of fans.

But that's a discussion for the main SW thread in off topic. Just wanted to clear up the myth that Johnson dared to do something different.
