Whatever the magazine was called (eventually ended up being called NGamer, can't remember what the previous versions were called but have most since like issue 20), had a competition where you had to answer 50 questions to win a RE4 GC, and they put the answers on here.

Found my way here from NGC, like most of the fogies still knocking around, I think the first time I can remember checking the forum is around the time Wind Waker was first shown at E3. That could be a bit of hazy memory though. I definitely remember running a Wind Waker a photo competition after the games release. I’d pick a topic I think and people would submit stuff, was really fun and plenty of people would take part, Cuban Pete and Aaronayl are two I can remember being involved.

I don’t think I ventured outside GGC for the first few years, and had no idea about the shenanigans that were going on in OT. I would have been around for Drivergate and Nevillegate but have no recollection of reading those threads. An early thread I do remember reading is Aaron and Lewis’, ultimately ill fated, trip to Japan and thinking it was so cool and being jealous from the photos they were uploading. Forum games aplenty obviously, plenty of hysterical moments in particular classic old photoshop threads. Vividly remember threads about the old place turning purple and various other horrible style changes

The migration over to this place I remember the chaos and community coming together and tearing the old place down and thinking it was pretty great how everyone banded together and didn’t fade away elsewhere. Despite the fact that I’d already been around for close to a decade at that point I never got involved in any of the logistics, have always been a bit of an outsider in that regard. I think I must be the longest serving member never to have held any kind of forum ‘job’. I remember losing lots of people, ET, Oxx and obviously others too numerous to list. In the early days this place really kicked into gear with great community goings on though, GRPlayde anyone? Motorstorm Mondays obviously the big one for me, which eventually morphed into Super Sundays and has become the regular crew of half a dozen people I’ve played online with throughout this generation. Chalkitdown has become a close friend and will always be disappointed he’s not here anymore.

Left for a year or so but eventually muddled my way back as despite the familiar faces fading and ever present annoyances this has always been a great place for news and chatter. Will soon be entering my third decade as a resident of this community which is a strawberry floating horrifying thought but it’s my home on the internet and can’t imagine what it would take to leave other than it all turning to dust.

Loved N64/NGC Mag, in the latter days of N64's Game Boy section in the middle of the mag, half the GB Camera pics sent in were mine.

Might have been, you bastard  :x. I think my first ever thread was 'Vote For Your Favourite Moderator' pretty sure Cobra won, but he must have stopped posting for at least ten years now?!

Also, how long did you try and keep up that you were a brand new member when you came back as Captain Kinopio?

I know the ‘You don’t have the post count to pull this off’ meme came from me but I couldn’t tell you why I was twattish enough to say that  This was in the old days though when post counts were displayed under your name and people respected Eighthours.

I never pretended I wasn’t herbi-vore > Herbi > Captain Kinopio, I may have had that aspiration at some point but a mod put Herbi in my user thing at some point.

I think I signed up to post something in Reader Reviews. Tragic Magic replied with some snarky comment.

But then he became my birthday brother along with Falcon.

Same. I joined at 16 in my first year at college and I had the username harpie_girl back then. I left for a few years when I had Ella at 19, couldn't remember my password so started using the username Tsunade.
Wasn't choclate-milk a mod at one point? Or am I remembering wrong?
Also I think old man Ploiper was the first active member to sign up on there. The first two who signed up never actually posted

Can't remember what my username on there was, it was something pretty generic though, might have even been my email or something.

I didn't start using the DJ username until at least 2004.

After Nintendo.co.uk, i went to a forum called PGF (Project Gamer) for most of 2003, after that i headed to Global Nintendo, and then made my way to ONM.

For it's age, the practical effects are actually really decent and hold up well today.

I became one when New ONM (remember that switch?) was in its death throes, then I stayed one throughout SONM's lifespan.

Not that I ever did much moderating

I've a vague recollection that Cobra was banned?

Feels like I've been here forever - somehow starting out on the gamesradar forums. Wasn't there a downloadable games magazine that came out once a week /fortnight or something back then? I only had dialup so I'd dial in, pick it up, have a quick nose online and disconnect. Can't remember my first actual interaction with the forum but it was at least 2 years before I got divorced, which was in 2004.
I never really post much but I always seem to be on here, and I do considerate it my internet 'home'. :simper: You guys.....
