I bought FIFA 13 cheap a couple of weeks ago as I fancied a cheap football fix. A brief synopsis of my player career thus far.

- join Arsenal
- get loaned out to York City
- MOTM in first friendly, not picked for second
- rupture knee ligaments in third game and get sidelined for three months

I've just experienced transfer deadline day from the perspective of an injured child, having to press X to progress through the hours one by one. You can see why Jamie Vardy hit up the Skittles vodka.

I genuinely cannot believe someone sat in a meeting at EA one day and thought that simulating long term injuries would make their game better. I've done nothing but advance through menus for twenty minutes.

Can anyone beat that for sheer lack of fun?

Pro Clubs. :fp: that game mode was absolutely infuriating. Especially when the AI on your team are completely useless and you're playing opponents who are so much better. The amount of stupid, jammy, last min goals you would concede, beggars belief.

Speaking of useless AI, I managed to score an own goal, from the half way line by accidently lobbing the ball back to the keeper rather than to another player, the ball bounced in front of him and he had the audacity to go for a diving save! The ball bounced over him as a result and rolled into the net. This was a cup final. It was 2 - 2 and there was 3 mins to play.

Needless to say I ripped the power cable out the back of the 360 and had to go for a walk to calm down. I then sent an apology text to my mates who I felt like were going to boot me out the club at the time. They didn't they found the whole thing funny instead. I did not.

Far Cry 4. Unpleasant and infantile story and characters. Attritional gameplay. And that ending...

For me it's pretty much any time I try and play Call of Duty Multiplayer online.

I just don't have the reaction times needed and I never bother to learn any special moves or kill streak (like I'm getting a kill streak) stuff so I just get destroyed. I like the zombie mode though.

Driv3r.

My local indie shop at the time was a bit fast and loose with street dates so i bought this flaming turd a week early and finished it before it came out, mostly out of a sense of determination i no longer have for such dross. It was totally broken in a few places and I made it out of sheer luck. A shame as the soundtrack was pretty good in places.

Amazing replay mode in Driv3r, too. Especially thanks to some of the glitches.

I feel like this topic is aimed specifically at me. As an achievement whore it sometimes feels like there isn't a day that goes by where I'm not doing something ludicrously tedious in the pursuit of points.

Case in point: I recently finished off the game Sky Force Anniversary. After completing all the levels on all the different difficulties I had just one remaining achievement to collect, 500,000 stars. At this point I had about 200,000. The best method to grind out stars is to play level 5 over and over, an extremely slow and boring level but one laden with stars.

Each play through takes about five minutes and nets 3,500. You do the maths.

Online multiplayer. I strawberry floating hate it. The problem being that I only play games in the evening and a small portion of that may be multiplayer, but you have to compete against people who spend all day every day learning all the tricks and maps, then if you dare to play in any way as not being seen as optimal, some little scrote will call you a banana split.

The only exception for me is racing games as my natural skill level on them means i can compete regardless of how much time I've spent on them.

But yeah, online multiplayer, strawberry float off.

Plenty to choose from, but more recently PUBG on PC.

Was fun, then millions of cheats turned up and with no end to the cheating in sight playing PUBG is a pointless, futile exercise. Watching people use aim bots etc via the kill-cam only added to the annoyance.

Not fun, at all.

It's hard to answer this as, most the time, if something isn't fun, I stop and move on pretty quickly. My backlog is too long to dwell on non-fun stuff.

I would concur with Ad7 re online MP (with strangers), though, and I do tend to avoid that, with the exception of Pro Evo. Obviously playing with people I know, and guys from here, is the exception, and I did enjoy the PVE stuff that Destiny introduced.

Halo. Boring, slow, redefined the genre for the worse.

Check out my YouTube channel!

GTA IV

I loved the early 2D GTA games and adored the PS2 era ones. I was so excited for number 4!

But it was gooseberry fool. I tried to grind my way through it, but it never clicked with me and was just boring.

This - I've dumped almost every multiplayer game as I don't see the time and effort of gitting gud against aforementioned little scrotes as a valuable endeavour. I've not renewed either XBL or PS+ because I only rarely used them for the odd race of Forza/Gran Turismo online and was at the back almost all the time anyway, so didn't see the point.

Yes I'm a miserable hermit misanthrope, but I'd rather go through a good or interesting story than get jump headshotted by xX_MLG_DEATHWOLF420_Xx and co.

100% this.

I can jump on board this train. Otherwise, it’s been watching the Paper Mario series slowly throttle itself.

+1 for the "strawberry float online multiplayer" clan.

It increasingly feels like most online multiplayer is geared against the casual player. Whether it be the COD or Battlefield model of making you grind through levels to actually get viable competitive equipment, (I don't think I've ever made it to the end of one of these progression trees, multi-prestige players can strawberry float off,) or constant updates that massively change the balance and flow of the game, basically making it unrecognisable if you go away for a few months and come back, like Overwatch or when they utterly shafted TF2 by adding all the items that broke the class system completely.

I really enjoy playing the likes of CoD online. Im not too bad at it either. Only play online via PS3 though as it's free and I always mute the mics. Sadly one of the best, World at War, is a no go as it's crammed with cheats.

While I don't think I agree with you (I play multiplayer B4 and B1 regularly and am let's just say not great) about not being able to play the battlefield series without the unlocks I do think there should be ways to queue up for casual matches away from the hardcore tryhard snobs.

Rainbow 6 Siege is a nightmare for this as I somehow managed to fluke wins in my 10 matches it uses to judge rank and I was put into a level far above my ability (which is piss poor) and I ended up just not playing as I was constantly being absolutely dominated by people who clearly played 10 times more than me and knew all the maps intimately. I didn't want easy games I just didn't want games where I was being humiliated and killed from angles I didn't know even existed.
I don't mind losing if I feel I at least stood a chance and when our sunday group did play R6S and got put against teams of our ability it was fun but after a while of getting wins and losses it for some reason decides to promote you to playing against people who just destroy you and the game becomes about as fun as self harm.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun - I was hoping for Diablo or Torchlight but with a feudal Japan setting. It was sadly nothing like that and just boring.

Sonic Unleashed (360).

Expectation: Fast but fun normal Sonic stages, bash 'n smash fun Werehog stages.
Reality: Normal Sonic stages that are far too fast to be anywhere near fun without significant memorization, and a Werehog that plays like he's mired in treacle in stages that feature lots of bottomless pits.

I gave up pretty quickly out of sheer unmitigated frustration.
