I'm sorry about this, but I'm totally stoked that someone believed my opinions would make interesting reading material!

It's just touching on my (small) experiences with game development/design, and games journalism. I didn't even realise it'd gone on the site until just a moment ago, but here it is.

Tell me what you think! Or just click on it, whatever. I also don't think an interest would've been taken if I didn't have the little extra experience behind me from D+PAD, so thankyou Dave if you're reading this :)

That's a great article em, certainly unlike anything I've ever read before as you rarely do get the cross over between designer and writer. I read all the way to the end, which honestly is a bigger compliment than you think and it raised some great points, though I'm not entirely sure that being soft on a game just because game design isn't easy is the best approach. Still nice stuff, bravo.

Oh and before clicking I was wondering in what way MGS was going to rear its head

I know exactly where you're coming from, Emily. Except I'm on the other side of the fence, I'm terrible at the "arty" side of things, so I've thrown myself into the programming aspect of it all. I was glad to see that you didn't end the article with a "I'll review even the worst games well" type viewpoint, but a more balanced, level headed one. It's unfair, imo, to give a bad game a good review just because you understand how much work went into it (Think of how much more work goes into masterpieces, for instance), so I'm glad you came to a similar conclusion.

Very enjoyable article! :D

Haha, I did manage to slip The Boss in there, bet you didn't see that coming!

Thankyou!

Edit: As programming goes, I don't think I should've even tried it. I actually failed maths at GCSE and can't do it for sh*t

Interesting article, can't say I agree with it though. If someone's putting a game out there, which they're expecting us to pay for, then it better be good. Doesn't matter how hard they "tried" if they failed, if they want my hard earned cash then they better try harder.
