Your Toilet/ Toilet Seat

So I was in my bathroom recently, and realized my toilet seat is of the hard plastic variety. It seems quite strange to me that there is so little variation in something that is so often used and thought we should take a census.

Of the people I know no one has one of those fancier padded toilet seats, we're all basically living in the stone age with our cold hard white plastic seats. Does anyone on here have the padded ones, or perhaps you have a wooden one? Or maybe you actually have a fancier toilet.

The worst designed toilet I've ever had the misfortune to use was when I was in Europe, instead of having just a simple bowl it had a small elevated platform that stayed dry and your poop would go on this platform. Therefore if you took a dump and didn't flush immediately after your crap would stink up the whole bathroom, see fig. 1

Was that in Germany by any chance, Rightey? They like to have a good long look at their poos.

Used to have a wooden seat here, changed a couple of weeks ago to a plastic one. I didn't know you could get padded seats, and it sounds pretty pointless to me.

I don't have a toilet and just use the shower.

I saw one of those toilets in the Netherlands, Righty. Its nice to get a look at your handiwork but it really stinks up the place. Anyone know why they have them?

I believe it's from a time when worms were rampant, so the user could inspect their stool for wriggly things.

I managed to spend two weeks in China without using one of these:

Disabled toilets FTW. The French also love to put these in service stations and the like, seriously, get into the 20th century. :fp:

Ours is standard plastic, but has a 'soft close' mechanism which is ace - until you use one that doesn't have it and you basically slam it shut because you're so used to it.

I went into the public toilets here yesterday for a dump and was greeted with one of these. I was like "What the strawberry float is this?!" before leaving without making use. Had to wait till I got back to the hotel where there is a normal toilet. :x

I didn't have a choice for about 2 months, so I got used to it. It's actually really liberating. Comes out so smooth.

Squat toilets are better for your colon apparently.

A pic of my toilet. Easy clean and no bother.

I was told that it was because of the amount of pork the Germans eat, so yeah, worms. Horrible experience! Good topic though, can't believe we're still doing it like we are in the 21st Century. If Dyson or Apple made toilets, things like splashback and warm toilet seats would be a thing of the past.

However, only the five riches kings in Europe could afford them.

Not colon, but rectum.

Less chance of prolapse, etc.

Seen those "platform" toilets in the Czech Republic. They're horrendous.

I'm shocked that we don't really have a market for Washlets in this country. They truly are awesome, press a button, get your arse washed for you.
