Really? I used to love me a bit of Idlewild (the early stuff, before they went a bit MOR) but that man has one of the most monotone vocals I've ever heard.

These things are always highly subjective. I love his way of singing harmonies and can happily listen to Idlewild all day long. They’ve gone to some interesting places since the old days.

I’m a bit lover of folk so I quite like his solo stuff as well, although his recent push into a more jazz-inspired sound isn’t for me.

True that. I haven't heard anything post Warnings/Promises so maybe I'll investigate further before writing him off.

I cannot for the life of me understand why she gets negative feedback on social media. She has such a wonderful voice, especially for electronica.

Right? She mentioned it in an interview promoting Screen Violence. I think it’s the subject of Final Girl.

In no particular order (and I didn't just copy Ironhide :slol:)

- Chris Cornell (Soundgarden)
- Layne Staley (Alice in Chains)
- Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees)
- Mike Patton (Faith No More)
- Kurt Cobain (Nirvana)
- David Yow (Jesus Lizard)

Couldn't leave out Yow, hence a list of 6!

- Angel Olsen
- PJ Harvey
- Kim Deal (Breeders)
- Sharon Van Etten
- Marissa Nadler

Plug " chvrches acoustic " into youtube. Lots of great arrangements accross a big chunk of thier catalogue. And it really shows off the vocal from Lauren. I would buy a Chvrches accoustic album in a heartbeat.

I have seen people complain about the register she sings in. People don't like how high she sings, which is frankly mental to me. She's really good.

Have you heard the ‘Hansa Sessions’ EP? It’s along those lines.

Actually listening to her 3rd(?) album, The Turning Wheel, for the first time atm, not my typical kind of thing but keep hearing people raving about it so thought I'd give it a shot.

Damn, this is pretty effing good.

Yeah, Turning Wheel was my album of the year in 2021. Very different, but I fell in love with it.

She's releasing some reworked older stuff soon. A couple of tracks are on Spotify now.
