I agree with this

Scott

You and I have known each other for close to 15 years now

I both respect and admire you

But sometimes you make it really difficult.

Wind Waker is really good!

Skyward Sword is just better :datass:

OK, let's not get wild now.

I agree with that actually.

In terms of 3D Zelda games,

OoT > MM > Skyward Sword > Twilight Princess > Wind Waker

I can't really decide where to put Breath of the Wild, if it's second or third, I don't know.

Overall top 5 Zelda games.

A Link to the Past
OoT
A Link Between Worlds (It's that damn good)
Majora's Mask
Link's Awakening

Every possible ranking of the Zelda games is an unpopular opinion

The remake of the game would've been amazing had they not strawberry floated up the twinmold boss fight.

The remake had quite a few issues in the end. It wasn't as well executed as the OOT remake.

I think I would have found LA unplayable if I tried to have a crack at the original GB version now.

That's likely due to your issues with retro games other than the game itself. Plenty of people here played LA for the first time only a few years back and rate it as their favourite 2D Zelda. You just seem to have a preconceived notion that older games are bad or some weird gooseberry fool going on, tbh.

I'm not even saying this as it's my favourite 2D Zelda as it isn't I prefer ALttP and the GBC Capcom games to it.

I don’t know if it’s just the way you post, but I’m getting the feeling that my general preference for newer games... aggravates you? Is that the right term? I’m not saying you don’t have to like old games or that it’s bad to like them. Older games make design choices and face technical limitations that are endemic of the eras and I’m not keen on a lot of them, with the greater propensity to get lost in inherently less immersive (IMO) 2D worlds being key among them. That’s how it happens. People five years younger than me can’t stand Super Mario 64 because it feels empty and old, and that’s natural. Likewise I’m aware that I apply rose tinted goggles to SM64 and the games I played in that era because that’s what I grew up with, although I try to take them off.

Regardless, that post and a couple of others read like you think I have some sort of problem because of my tastes in games, and it’s a little too persistent and tonally off to feel like a joke. :?

(Incidentally my favourite game from the pre-N64 era is the excellent Gunstar Heroes. It’d be in with a shot of my top 25 if it wasn’t quite short and, unless I missed something, required you to start right over if you messed up - again, I suspect, due to technical limitations of the era.)

But Balla... Tetris is the most immersive game ever made! ;)

On the subject of Zelda, this may be unpopular-I like how the Timeline works

Does anyone care about the timeline?

With regard to Link's Awakening, I just played through it for the first time on the Switch. It was excellent.

I feel like they did the best they could considering that it obviously hadn’t been considered properly before that point, like Mario’s timeline.

Now that I really want to see. How old is he? Are there multiple Marios (beyond normal and Paper)? Do the Mario and Luigi games exist in the same universe and time period as e.g. Odyssey? Come on Nintendo, answer the questions the fans are really asking.

I don't see why anyone bothers getting hung up on the timeline, just enjoy the games individually and stop worrying about it!

It was really fun to speculate about and then Nintendo ruined it by making it official - it was an exciting event though!

Mario and friends are actors and celebrity personalities, the games are all in-universe shows meant as entertainment. This has been evident since SMB3, and explains things like Mario Party, Mario Kart and the various sports games.

Also I'm pretty sure Nintendo confirmed Mario's age - he's 25 :simper:

I found Dark Souls slow and boring. I couldn't get into it at all.
