My first DVD was Demolition Man, I only bought it as I had just bought my first PC and it had a DVD drive I wanted to test out.

That PC had a whopping 11gb hard drive. I remember the bloke in the shop telling me that 11gb would be enough for anything I ever wanted to save.

Can someone summarise please so I don't have to watch a YouTube face video?

1) popular YouTuber (The Completionist) starts a charity venture
2) events are held by said YouTuber and his team over the course of years, where viewers are encouraged to donate
3) the money is yet to be donated and currently totals some $665k just sitting in a bank account
4) when asked to comment, The Completionist claimed he only learnt the money hadn't been donated in 2022
5) money still hasn't been donated, The Completionist still professes on his streams to have donated money to all the causes that he previously claimed to

I saw some tweet explode yesterday of some vtuber who's his friend saying none of this is true after Dexerto decided to write an article about it that they deleted. Regardless of how content creators come across on camera strawberry float all of them, they're all people who started off humble, got rich and then essentially just do what they do to keep themselves richer.

I watch a few Japanese youtubers and Trash Taste; but even when watching I find myself recoiling sometimes at how clearly out of touch with reality these people are now. I tried watching some big streamers at one point and when I started to realise these people were making more in donations in a day than I made in a year it just made me feel awful.

Will never understand why people donate to big ass streamers, there is literally 0 sense of community and your contribution really feels like it doesn't matter at all.

My first DVD was the matrix (already had it on VHS) and at the same time my mum bought me gladiator. I took my new massive DVD player downstairs that night and we all watched it on the big CRT tv in the living room. We were entertained.

Ah yes, The Matrix on DVD, there were stories doing the rounds at the time that it wouldn't even play on a lot of the DVD players back then for some reason.

My first DVD meanwhile was Deep Blue Sea, the film itself was a bit gooseberry fool (though Samuel L Jackson getting chomped was stupid fun), but it was still nice to watch using the then new format.

Oh and this was my first player, a Matsui unit from Dixons which i got sometime around June 2000 (replaced it in 2007)...

I haven't seen or read the latest on this, but I'd imagine any silence is down to them seeking legal advice.
Quite an odd situation though. I only heard of The Completionist earlier this year through the Friends Per Second podcast.
The original couple of videos raise a lot of questions though.

I get that the silence will be from legal counsel, but then the logic would state that his legal counsel would only advise that if there was at least something to be guilty of even if it's minor. So it's still not great.

Damage control. Stop anyone saying anything that could make the situation even worse.

Makes sense in general, but you would think that they would want to get a proper statement out ASAP - the longer they leave it to verify where the money that was been collected has been sitting for a decade and what their plans are for putting it to actual use the worse it looks.
