Was about to break into the 8:20s round the ring only to spin at the third to last corner :fp: was about 7 seconds up on my previous lap, so it’d have just taken me into the 8:20s, annoying!

Realised why I like the McLaren as well, it’s got a little hint of the pod racer sounds from Star Wars  plus it handles like a dream round the ring, Porsche is fun but it wants to put you into the barriers far too often for my liking.

Not liking the sound of the handling on F1 2024.

It's probably for the best, this will be the first in 5 years I don't bother buying. Here's my playtime for each F1 game from Steam/EA:

F1 2020 - 118 Hours
F1 2021 - 140 Hours
F1 2022 - 66 Hours
F1 2023 - 20 Hours

F1 2022 was by far the worst, to be honest 2023 hasn't been bad in terms of handling etc (though the AI was noticeably worse than even 2020) - I just haven't had the time.

I really don’t get how the F1 games are just getting worse and worse each year now, the F1 license needs to go to someone actually passionate about creating a realistic game, even in a sim you can make it playable on a pad, ACC is playable on a pad, it’s not great but it’s perfectly playable and if that’s all you had, you’d probably be able to make it work quite well in my opinion, with a lot of practice of course.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown news coming on the 30th! With an ARG starting this Monday to hype up whatever that reveal is.

It's got to be the release date. Right?

Crumbs, I'd forgotten about this one, Rula! It has been in development for years, hasn't it? I will join you in looking out for the announcement!

Yeah, they'd first announced it back in 2020 with just a teaser. Every year after has felt like that was meant to be the year it released.

That ARG begins 5pm on Monday, looking at the smaller countdown timer. The reveal comes 9am on the 30th.

And there's the release date. September 12. Base version £50, with silver and gold tiers being quite a bit more.

Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown will launch on 12 September. The trailer is giving me NFS x Horizons vibes!

Edit: Ruuuuuuuulaaaaaaaaaa! :x  .

F1 Manager 24 sounding like a really good upgrade over the 23 game, tempting to pick it up around launch if it reviews well.

The Mustang GT3 has been added to ACC (free DLC) so I'll have to get that tried out at some point, keep expecting each DLC to be the last lot now for ACC as surely most of the staff are hard at work on AC Evo now.

Push Square wrote:Gran Turismo and Need for Speed are two opposing extremes of a spectrum that, on the whole, isn't that wide. Yet, Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown appears to have found a pleasing middle ground between the two. The first series entry in 13 years, the upcoming open world game blends a fairly arcadey approach to street racing with a respect and passion for cars that you'd expect out of a Polyphony Digital production. In practice, it results in what appears to be another successful racing title on PlayStation consoles, but it's actually the philosophy behind Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown that really struck a chord with us more than anything else.

This is sounding really promising and I'm looking forward to seeing it roll out.

Edit: The game now has it's own dedicated thread here in GR - click.

I bought Driveclub VR today and jumped in with my wheel and was super excited to play it.

Literal vomit simulator.

Maybe it's because I was accustomed to racing in VR a lot back when I got this, but it never affected me. I saw so many things saying it was unplayable but it never did anything to me.

I do struggle with movement in VR. I am fine using teleport for traversal in Skyrim for example but analog makes me travel sick. Think it is just that really. Sad, but it was only £8 and worth having if someone wants to give it a try when they visit.

I remember Driveclub VR not being too bad, but as with a lot of VR stuff that involves you going fast, your mileage may vary. WipeOut was the one that made me ill.

To be fair though I had turned all the motion sickness assists off. :slol:

You can "train" yourself to not be as susceptible to it. Basically play until you start to feel it then stop immediately. Don't try to push through it. Stop. Leave it for a day then go again. Over time you should (in theory) build up a tolerance. But again, your mileage may vary.

I can manage just about any VR game without motion sickness and even doing long 6-8 hour stretches on stuff like Euro Truck Sim.

But turning off all of the comfort settings on Wipeout and doing barrel rolls was absolute nightmare fuel.

you both are so right, i have not played GT7 in months now and the way game has changed compared to GT3-GT4 its lost what fun was in those original 4-5 games. Long championship events proper endurance races and it felt the progress you did was worth while. You could spend lots of credit souping up a road car to get thru several championships.

GT7 is a bland boring corporate soulless game which is boring to play KAZ has sucked out all the fun with the last few GT games. Some updates you get the impression they was already in the game just removed for DLC content.

I'm playing Nascar Heat 5 whenever i get some free time and i am enjoying it surprisingly apart from the shite music in the game and same songs everytime i load it up lol. But the actual racing is fun and challenging and i get how to race on Ovals now and the techniques involved on the various tracks and when racing in packs and listening to the spotter. I have had some really fun and intense races and I'm only in my 2nd year in career mode racing in the dirt and Nascar Truck series events

PandaMonium (Saturn game reviewer - bit of an understatement) has just put out a 4 1/2 hour video about Sega Rally and it's very, very good:
