Aurora app on my phone alerts me. Usually kicks around 5% to 15% chance and on the better nights it's always overcast here. Last night was 75% so I stared outside all evening.
I am in Cumbria so better chances for me but it was an extravaganza. Started with what looked like a white mist over the entire sky was really the green aurora. After a while it condensed into a strip of white and then went pink to the naked eye. From there it morphed into reds, purples and blues. I can't recall if it went green to the eye. It was like that for an hour. Looked like the Eye of Sauron directly above. Other half and I lay out in the garden under a blanket just watching it.
Night sight on your phone camera will show you the colours if your eyes can't tell.
