Nah you don’t need to have seen Covenant. I would suggest rewatching Alien and maybe Prometheus (depending on how you feel about the latter) before seeing Romulus. It was good having both fresh in my mind going into it.

I absolutely hated Prometheus, but I've seen Alien recently so it's all good. Cheers for the help guys.

Grease 2 (1982) - 2/10

Maybe the worst film I've ever been forced to sit through, and I watched The Last Jedi at the cinema! :dread:

My wife loves this as a nostalgic childhood film, so I finally relented, but strawberry float me it's absolutely awful  , a poor imitation of Grease, awful songs and even worse performances, just abysmal.

Alien Romulus - 7

I don't think the pre-release hype did this any favours while fun and competently made it's nothing special. I don't mind the plentiful nods to other films but I wish it had more personality of it's own. I think it really could have done without the final monster thing and instead used that time to do more world building rather than just relying on what other films had done. It's also not grubby enough.

The Game (1997) - 8/10

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119174/ This is a brilliant film one of Michael Douglas's best films and David Finchers best films alongside Fight Club & Seven. A must watch an excellent thriller which will have you guessing up until the very end

Blink Twice: 6/10 - great cinematography and final third of the film. I thought it was a blend of The Menu and Get Out, for a directorial debut this is great and Zoe Kravitz could be one to watch. I was slightly disappointed having read glowing reviews as two thirds of the film is a bit boring but it picks up towards the end.

The Crow [2024]: 3/10 - great special effects during the fight scenes but that is all. Terrible remake, it’s more complicated, there’s more rules to the afterlife etc and you just think why? they’ve over complicated a revenge movie and it’s not a patch on the original. Stick with the original with Brandon Lee.

Alien Covenant 7/10, I enjoyed this. Maybe it was the nostalgia of watching it on Film 4 with its associated advert breaks, so it didn't quite feel as long.

Re the Film itself, it's not the most tense or well shot and the story isn't the most developed, and doesn't really advance the Prometheus story line (or at least continue it with any satisfaction), but for watching a bit of Sci Fi on a Saturday night, I've done worse.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare - 3/10

Absolute shite but enjoyable enough for me to watch until the end (Eiza González certainly helped there).

Longlegs - 8. A Silence of the lambs type thriller.

Annabelle - 5

Pretty weak as far as The Conjuring movies go. World felt weirdly lifeless and the creature in the shadows at the end of the corridor begins to get a bit played out after watching so many of these.

Black Box - 7/10
A french thriller about a guy that analyses flight recorder logs. Very engaging from start to finish. Has an old school conspiracy thriller vibe. Good film, it's on iPlayer at the moment.

Annabelle Comes Home is much better.

The one you saw is the weakest of the series.

The Coffee Table - 8/10
A Spanish dark comedy that is best to go in completely blind. Basically something awful happens and the main guy tries to hide it. An hour of excrutiating tension follows as we know he can't hide it forever. I loved it and hated it at the same time.

Longlegs. Totally overhyped. Great performance from Nick but I left the film very underwhelmed. Definitely worth watching, but unlike SOTLs, I won't watch it again.

Trap.

Mr Shamalangadingdong once again with a very good idea but no idea how to implement it properly into a movie. It starts off interesting enough but the second half of the movie is just ridiculous and stupid beyond belief. Back to the drawing board again.

Beetlejuice 3/10

Never seen this and decided to watch Sunday night and if decent will go and watch the new one at the weekend. I can confirm that won't be happening.

I'm not sure if this is just a product of its time but this film was just to weird for me. Beetlejuice is clearly a creep and the humour was just to slapstick. I'm glad it was done in 90 minutes.

I quite liked Romulus and it made me want to watch Prometheus again to see if I'd been too hard on it first time round.

I ended up hating it even more. Actual physical reaction to how much I disliked it.
