Oooooohhhhh there's gonna be a good story here. What happened?

Nah nothing interesting. We stayed there when I was a kid and they put us in a cabin so far on the outer boundary it was next to a barbed wire fence. Had to cycle like 30 mins every morning to get stale croissants for breakfast. Fell off my rented Mr Men bike at one point into a ditch in the woods.

Was it Mr Bump?

I think it was all of them but I fell over a lot so Mr Bump would have been my choice.

I went to Center Parcs for the first time earlier this year and I quite enjoyed it. Bloody expensive though.

The buzz of an illegal dirt bike shatters the peace and quiet, as the couple realise that the oik has a GoPro strapped to his lid.

I feel like this Winter fuel allowance controversy could be sorted by going through the eligibility parameters with a fine tooth comb and maybe making some small compromises to include people who are just about missing out on it.

I think it's the right decision ultimately but it could probably be implemented slightly better.

I know someone who is kicking off like strawberry float cos he misses eligibility by £2. But he drinks 30-40 quid of beer a day so I've little sympathy. Specially when the charity he operates only has to donate so much from takings. But hey ho.

The easiest solution, that would be popular with everyone, would be to give OFGEM some teeth and demand a reduction in gas/electricity charges.

Get the prices down to a level that more than makes up for scrapping the winter fuel allowance. The government can then boast that not only are pensioners better off, but that the entire country is.

The winter fuel allowance should definitely be means tested, pretty much all the other benefits are. But the level seems to be set too low.

I'm currently reading Torsten Bell's (MP for Swansea West) book 'Great Britain? How We Get Our Future Back' and had to laugh at this line:

"You can of course theoretically travel abroad for a haircut, but I'm guessing you don't."

He obviously doesn't spend much time on this forum.

Just wait until you get to the section on the economic benefits of expensive bum bags.

The BBC have strawberry floating lost it. They've stationed reporters outside prisons that are releasing inmates early today.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c62rygz20gjt

Prisoners started to be released from HMP Humber, here in East Yorkshire, at about 8am.

One man, who was among the first to leave the Category C prison, was carrying a black bin liner and was greeted by a middle-aged man waiting with a car. The pair hugged and shook hands before leaving.

The released prisoner then gave us a big smile and wave as he passed.

Another man left the jail with his belongings in a bag and also carrying a cardboard box. He's been waiting by the roadside.

Desperately hoping to witness someone re-offend as soon as they walk out the gates, no doubt.

That's the issue for me, isn't it only like a 10th of the people who used to get it that are still eligible? It feels like the value they wanted to save was thought up first, before considering the people hurt by it. You could understand the top 10-20% being cut, y'know the rich ones like Alan Sugar who always moaned about it. But it seems to go waaay below the breadline. Not to mention the short notice, allowing zero time for people to try and mitigate the loss.
