PostGRcade predicts: the ending of Game of Thrones - possible spoilers
by Ironhide » Thu Apr 11, 2019 6:02 pm

With the final season imminent I thought it'd be interesting to see what the fine people of GRcade thought would happen during the final episodes.

Simply post three predictions (big or small) in this thread and once the dust settles we can see who truly is the Nostradamus of GRcade.

Note: Anyone not up to speed with the show should probably avoid this thread for potential spoilers.

My predictions.

1. Jon ends up on the Iron throne
2. Danaerys gets pregnant but dies during childbirth
3. Bran is actually the 'leader' of the white walkers (I forget the actual name of the character), due to some time travel silliness

Cersai betrays them all using golden company and strawberry floats up the northern army, by the time she realises the threat of walkers it’s too late. She is killed on the throne by the night king.

Or maybe

jon and Danny win the fight, Tyrion kills cersai and Danny dissolves the 7 kingdoms and relinquishes the throne

Cersei's betrayal means there'll be a mass exodus of the kingdoms north of King's Landing into a capital as the White Walkers invade.

Jaime kills Cersei the Mad Queen.

Daenerys does end up on the Iron Throne but has to hide the fact that Jon is her child's father after they find out how they're related.

I'm calling it. It'll be gooseberry fool. Along the lines of Stephen King's Dark Tower series.

Maybe by pushing a small child out of a window. This truly is the twilight zone.

I've been thinking about a potential ending over the past couple of days, something that fits in with what Martin has said will be a bittersweet ending so this is my take on it (quite brief and hastily thought of so it is just a rough idea of how I think it could end) that I thought of while I was struggling to fall to sleep last night.

Note, both options are based on the idea that the Night King will win the battle at Winterfell, with most of the no name characters and a the remaining main characters speeding their way to Kings Landing by various means getting there before the Night Kng. How they get into the city is beyond me, maybe Cersei finally sees sense and let’s them in.

Option 1: Cersei is killed on the throne by Jamie, the heroes then evacuate as much of the city as possible before seating himself on the throne as the army of the dead enter the city, as the Night King enters the throne room Jamie gives the order to ignite all of the other caches of wildfire hidden beneath the city (by a few characters willing to sacrifice themselves to save Westeros) this is when Jamie realises that the Mad King may have been having visions of the future by saying “burn them all” rather than being completely mad.

Option 2: This is similar to option one, except that Jamie kills Cersei and then Daenerys opts to stay behind as in her vision in season 2 she walks into a partly destroyed, snow covered throne room, again the wildfire would be ignited to destroy the army of the dead. It depends how the show runners want to do this, the Wildfire may not affect Daenerys at all as it has been shown she has immunity to fire from previous episodes so she could escape on Drogon, fulfilling another vision (I believe Bran had in season 3) of a lone dragon flying over Kings Landing. Or the wildfire could kill her allowing her to save the land she believed she was destined to rule by sacrificing herself.

I’ve no idea if wildfire would have any affect on the Night Knig or not though, it’s meant to burn hotter than fire and dragon fire so it might finish him off.

In both of these Jamie fulfils his role as volanqar and the destruction of Kings Landing would destroy the Iron Throne, allowing the remaining characters to come up with a better idea for ruling Westeros rather than a singular King or Queen.[

Edit, unspoiled-erd as it’s a spoiler thread.

Whatever ending happens, George RR Tolkien will then finish the books with an intentionally different ending, that book splits will cream themselves into oblivion over No matter how good or bad it really is, and they will say if that had been the filmed one then the show would have been so much better.

I predict a final fight scene at kings landing with it leading up to a battle in the throne room and then the last surviving character, mortally wounded, will crawl on to the throne and die on it. Then they will turn in to a white walker as their eyes open and the camera does a smash cut to black.

Why are we spoiler boxing predictions?

I am hoping that HBO realise than one of the reasons GoT was a big success was because of its unpredictability and lack of fear of killing off big name characters.

So my hope is that Jon/Dany are killed off a few episodes in, Cersei defeats the rest of the human armies before getting killed as the Night King overwhelms King's Landing. The last shot is the Night King sitting down on the Iron Throne.

But I don't think they will do that. It'll be a standard story, Jon/Dany will defeat Cersei and then band the remaining humans together to defeat the Night King. Once the White Walkers are no longer a threat, all of the Seven Kingdoms cheer the new ruling family and they take their place - Jon on the Iron Throne, Dany on a newly made Dragonglass Throne.

I hope you're right; these would be pretty excellent endings.

Thanks, I was watching Battle of the Bastards last night (I was going to watch the 21 episode list that’s been floating around on social media but just thought I’d watch 9/10 of season 6 and all of season 7) and 3 minutes in the caches of wildfire got a mention. It’ll be interesting to see if it gets any other mentions in any of the must watch episodes. Obviously S2 E9 is easy to explain with Tyrion’s antics saving Kings Landing, as is S6 E10 with Cersei using it to great effect. I can’t remember how often it gets a mention though in any of the other ones.

The main characters arrange to meet at a diner. Jon arrives first, and watches customers come and go. Daenerys arrives next. Bran then arrives. Tyrion arrives late and parks his horse outside. As the bell rings when Tyrion opens the door, Jon looks up. The scene cuts to black.

Bronn survives and gets his castle.
The golden company betray Cersei because Varys and Ilyrio had arranged it so.
Jamie kills Cersei but removes his face revealing himself to be arya. She then tries to kill the mountain and fails only to be rescued by the Hound which then starts Clegane Bowl. The Hound wins.

Tormund dies protecting Brienne
Grey worm dies protecting Missandei
Jorah dies protecting Daenerys

Melisandre tells Jon he must plunge longclaw or Hearts Bane into Dany to create Light bringer. Or she suggests sacrificing the child of Gilly and Sam. This is the only way or ways to kill the Night King. At Davos and Brans advice - Jon plunges a sword into Melisandre instead. Achieving the desired effect and then killing NK
Daenerys or Jon destroy the throne. The rule of Westeros is then by committee of the rulers of the seven separate kingdoms.
