I stopped listening to radio a long time ago, for precisely this reason. Always the same songs - songs you'd only hear on the radio and not actually choose to listen to - those hideous breakfast shows that always have one male presenter and one female, and having to hear the same strawberry floating adverts over and over.

I'll listen to Radio 2 occasionally for the folk show, and I don't mind Jeremy Vine/Steve Wright/Chris Evans, but commercial radio is a big no-no.

At the moment yeah, during the day all you hear is Wiley and Britney Spears. :|

Zane Lowe's good, though.

I have Chris Moyles on in the morning, just because other breakfast shows are worse, I'm half asleep so I don't concentrate on the music.

Jon Richardson on 6Music on a Sunday Morning is amazing, I listen to the show and get the podcast :fp:

Mark and Lard were awesome in the afternoon, always made me laugh out loud.

Steve Wright is pretty good on Radio 2. 6 Music is awesome with Adam and Jo being great on Saturday mornings. I use my tv to listen to the digital stations, Mojo and Q are pretty good too, lots of music and little chat.

I don't really listen to Radio 1 anymore, that cinema advert though :fp: 7 minutes of sheer hell.

Wish my image sig would work

I would listen to the radio more often, if they didn't flood it with:

A) Adverts (although I could tolerate this if the station was good)
B) Annoying presenters who spend most of the time talking utter bollocks. I really don't want to sit there and listen to the presenter read out 30 text messages detailing what listeners are doing with their day. Like "we are in the car and going to the beach" or "I'm cooking lasagne".

When I do occasionally listen I will keep to the more 'classic' stations that play stuff from the yester-years. Can't say I've ever listened to Capital FM, though, but surely they can't be as bad as Radio 1. x

In Ireland, I listen to Newstalk - way better than repetitive music. Mind, only Sean Moncrieff and George Hook.

I listen Radio 4 and BBC 7.

Captial has always been a load of old gooseberry fool.

I listen to Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie in the evenings on Radio 2, mostly whilst I'm at work. I put off working so that the noise of the dishwasher doesn't drown out the radio.

I quite enjoy Chris Evans as you get a good variety of songs, I don't mind Steve Wright if he's on when I'm listening. Radio 1 can be annoying though Edith Bowman with her top 3 everyday, I swear she just has 6 songs and mixes them up each day.

Agree with Mark and Lard comment. Sure, they had a playlist to follow but they'd tell you if they thought it was crap or not, why can't we have that now - i.e. a DJ with an opinion which doesn't toe the corporation line. And I don't mean the over-the-top toss*rs that are Wossy or Brand?

As for Steve Wright - it can be an entertaining show. For me through it's ruined by his arse-licking of anyone and everyone who appears on the show as a guest. They are always 'hilarious' or he 'loves' their new CD/film/book. Surely there's times when he doesn't think everything and everyone are brilliant? Surely?
And don't get me started on Janie Lee Grace - URGH! Always peddling her organic, recycling, lentil munching veggie propaganda at every opportunity - FU*K OFF!

Can't say I've ever tried Capital radio.

I'm fond of Radio 2, 5 Live on a Saturday and occasionally Planet Rock or Classic FM. I used to love theJazz on digital radio, but then they shut it down. I've noticed a new digital jazz station is up called Jazz FM but I can't get a very good signal at my uni flat. I'll investigate over Christmas. :D

XFM's not too bad if I had to pick a radio station.
