Unacceptable. It's the stuff of Roman Circuses. Cruelty to animals is not just reprehensible, it's cowardly, too. I often feel quietly satisfied every time some utter moron gets himself gored half-to-death on those ridiculous 'bull runs'. I'm on the bull's side. If human beings want to behave like total f*ckwads let them pay the price for their cruelty and stupidity.

Not defending this banana split of a dentist thinking he can buy his way into cowardly killing this poor creature, it's a real dick thing to do.
However (& advance apologies for sounding like a drip) a case like this sparks debate and cries out that famous Joker analogy:example.....
IS ethnic cleansing in the Middle East

It's the needlessness of it all that seems so abhorrent. Why? Why has he killed this animal? His rationale appears to be it's ok because he paid the money, but I still don't understand why. :?

Conversely, and I don't know if this is controversial, but I don't have a problem with people hunting pheasants/rabbits/deer etc. if they intend to eat it.

I think the overreaction and media coverage for this has been pretty ridiculous and I'm sick of hearing about it, but then again a poor fluffy animal getting killed will always get mass sympathy because dawwwwww.

It gets a bigger reaction then ethnic cleansing, or the ISIS war, or various other human rights abuses because it's easier to process. Once there was a beautiful lion, now there isn't thanks to this banana split of a dentist. This situation in the middle East is far too vast to immediately invoke empathy. Does this mean the former is somehow degraded in its seriousness? No. I am still absolutely disgusted at Cecil's killing. Does this somehow make my disgust at ISIS less legitimate? Again no. They are completely separate issues that evoke entirely different outpourings of grief and despair. The joker analogy above has a lot in common with the "This isn't courage, this is courage" Caitlyn Jenner memes that made an equally fatuous argument.

Anyway, it seems he's gone from "I'll be happy to help the authorities with their inquiries" to "Toodle-oo mummy strawberry floaters!" as he's gone into hiding from the Hunting and Fisheries authority. strawberry float the banana split, deport him.

Its ridiculous you cant be disgusted by more than one thing because you dont post it all on social media.

Its bigger than other news stories because its newer and not a common occurance in the manner it occured, simple nah? Something something isis, calais, africa.

It's ok guys, in a move straight out of Disney film Cecil's pride is being protected from a rival lion called Jericho by Cecil's brother. It was believed that Jericho would kill Cecil's Cubs.
