I wonder how future games on PC from Sony will roll now? It seems that the key issue was the need for a PlayStation account after a few months; this was obviously messy and presumably future games will have that requirement from launch. As Photek pointed out, this would be in line with Microsoft's approach to PC titles.
Edit: It's good to see people taking action when they feel there is a problem but I wonder if things went too far when some of the dev's other titles - such as the first Helldivers - were also getting review bombed on Steam?
I’m torn. It’s arguably their only tool to get their way. But I do cringe at how childish the community is. I mean, how much of a big deal was it really with all the other launchers. With a PS5 already, it was a non issue for me.
A significant number of PC players are in countries where PSN isn't available, and were going to be locked out of the game, after having been able to buy and play it for the last month (with little indication they would be locked out). I think that's in the millions of players when you add up all the countries - including the likes of Japan, China, etc. So yeah, I think that it was a pretty big deal.
