Hopefully this'll see the hand cut back on a bit for the next season's of Daredevil and Iron Fist respectively - really looking forward to this!

What was wrong with Iron Fist to make it so badly reviewed compared to the other shows? i never got round to watching it.

For some reason there was a big controversy that someone who wasn't Asian was cast as the lead. I think that carried through to the reviews.

Also it has a lot of complaints about the fight choreography (mainly due to Finn Jones not having time to prepare for the role) and them not using stunt doubles in fights.

If you liked the other shows then you'll like IF too, it really isn't any worse than any of the others (in fact it made a nice change as everything was bright and vibrant versus dark and gloomy of the other shows)

It wasn't as well written and there was a huge controversy over them casting a white saviour character when Iron Fist was ripe for an Asian casting. The criticism would have gone away if the show were really good, but it turned out quite bland sadly, with the main character appearing as a bit of a man child.

I enjoyed it however, and think there's lots of potential for season 2.

Iron Fist was fine, I actually preferred it to Luke Cage. Don't know why but LC didn't grip me as much and tailed off as it went on. I think because Luke was a pretty mopey character for most of it, he has amazing powers but rarely used them.

For me DD and JJ are still the best.

That stairwell fight in DD series 2 :datass:

What a load of bull, sorry but to say it got bad reviews because of the casting isn't true. The show was dull, we all know the showrunner is useless and it showed in this. It's far, far worse than the other 3.

It's not far, far worse than the other three. It's nowhere near worthy of a 16% rotten tomatoes rating or whatever it ended up with, it's just not *as* good. And I think there's an argument to say that the casting affected reviews when so many reviews made specific mention of the casting.

Not passing judgment on that by the way - I think there was a really strong argument to cast an Asian actor as Iron Fist but I can also see the point made by some members of the Asian community that casting an Asian actor plays into stereotypes about Kung-Fu and Asian film and TV characters being genre limited. Personally I thought the stuntman from Manchester who guested as the drunken master should've been Iron Fist.

People who had no previous knowledge of the character were angry they cast a white male to play a martial arts expert because apparently only asian people are allowed to do that and failing to see the irony of their argument. The show runner did a bad season or two of Dexter or something too but I never watched that so I didn't really care.

I guess people have different tastes. While these are all Marvel, don't forget they are different shows so while you might hate one, it might be someone else's cup of tea. Just the same as the movies.

Not that it helps season 1 of Iron Fist, but his story is meant to be carried in to Defenders as a part 2 type deal. A lot of people hated his child like wonder vibes, but it makes sense for a character who was divorced from civilisation at a young age. You should see more classic Iron Fist in Defenders now he has met western culture and is working amongst other super powered individuals.

I'm pretty sure he auditioned for the lead, he probably would have been great but I'm not sure about his accent :slol:

May well watch this in one go, I'm off work all next weekend.
Also, 'Iron Fist was fine' is objectively incorrect, sorry. It was horrific. Not 16% horrific, but a 4/10 all day long.

Knowing nothing about Iron Fist previously, I thought it was OK - not amazing but not gooseberry fool either.

Wait, how is Iron Fist getting 17% on RT? I mean, it's definitely the weakest of the series but it's not that bad. I'm not going to say it's a work of art or anything because it's definitely below average, but seriously get a hold of yourself internet. 17% would imply eye-gougingly bad.

It's a 6 or 7 out of 10. Not a classic but definitely watchable. 17% implies it's so awful people quit watching after 30 mins. Who knows maybe those arguing for it's low score did quit, anyone who stayed with it till the end would realise it's alright. And anyone who stayed till the end but still thinks it's 2/10 material needs to ask themselves why they watched 10+hrs of awful TV?!

I thought Iron Fist was pretty good, it wasn't amazing but 17% is taking the piss, the Ghostbusters reboot doesn't even deserve that low a score.

Why do they have less than a week to save New York? :shifty:
