FYI Beyond Good & Evil will be the Ubi30 game for October. I have no idea if it's any good tbh.

The guys at introversions spent 20 minutes talking about a UI mod for Uplink. It does look nice.

Undoubtedly a noobish Steam question, but what are the trading cards for? I can see they can be traded for gems, but then what? Does it matter if I trade them in for gems (i.e. do they have any value as cards)?

Yes?

Just sell them to idiots for cash on the marketplace

Sell cards. You get a small amount for them but it all adds up.

You can sell them? Is that what they are really for? How do I go about selling them?

What do you do with the gems?

Ok. Just had a little look. I don't have a Steam wallet because I've not bought anything directly from Steam. I'll just have to hold onto them for a while and then flood the market. I'll think of them as my very early retirement plan.

Thinking about it, didn't someone on here admit to being stupid enough to buy trading cards?

Click on the card and on the right there's an option to sell. I think someone said that trading them for gems means when you have enough gems you can get a booster pack of cards or some gooseberry fool. Just sell them.

By getting a full set you can craft a little badge for your profile page, a background or a little chat emoticon, as well as to boost your steam level. I have yet to figure out why anyone would do this. Either way valve take a cut from every sale, so its a way for them to make even more money.

Also brace yourself for the halloween sale which should start in the next couple of weeks or so as it will be your first proper steam sale. The first couple are rough on the wallet.

Selling on the marketplace is more if a ball ache than it used to be mind due to the new rules. If you don't use the steam authenticator then anything you put on the marketplace is held for about 2 weeks before going up, so by then the price has totally changed.

I can't really be arsed selling cards any more. They go for a pittance anyway, but Valve always take a cut. So selling them is just funding the cesspit that is their business model of feeding off everyone else and actually doing strawberry floating nothing.

The way you make it sound, I have no choice but to spend money.

Maybe the regulars on here can have a whip round for me or set up a just giving page?

I downloaded the Doom demo earlier to see how that performs on my machine. My PC seems to be well below the minimum spec so looking forward to seeing what I can get out of it.

I did, but I will add the proviso that I made far more than I spent on cards. I spent a while trying to play the trading game in steam, TF2, and CS:GO, I have sold an awful lot of items, however for all the effort I put in I am probably only about £50 up so it was not worth it, I know people who has inventories worth thosands, but that requires heavy investment to get going.

I have bought cards too. My steam wallet is filled with cash only earned from selling cards, and if I really liked a game then I used that surplus change to buy the cards to get the accompanying badge. Still in the green by many thousands of percent so whatever.

I think I have some for Deus Ex, Dirt Rally, Project Cars, Hitman - gooseberry fool like that.

Steam will soon natively support Dualshock 4 controllers.

Yep. It sounds like you won't even need other software, like DS4Windows.

That sounds really good. The bit of software I use at the moment is fine, other than the light on the controller flashing.
