It could always be that Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee (LGPE?) started life on the 3DS before being rushed through to get Pokemon on the Switch. If so that would explain the similar environments to Sun/Moon (assuming that leaked screenshot is legit for this purpose) and why the first mainline game on the Switch is going to be a remake rather than a brand new entry/region. If this is the case I could actually see them releasing one on the 3DS and the other on the Switch as all the assets are there for the 3DS already and development would have been well underway anyway.
Again all hypothetical as ideally the new games would take more advantage of the Switch hardware and push it a lot more and I feel like a 3DS version would just hold it back in this case.

I think there might be riots if it's announced as 3DS and Switch.
I'll be a little disappointed if it is just an upgraded and tweaked version of the 3DS games, but I'll still buy it.
Hoping we can get something a bit more impressive further down the line though.

While I'd be disappointed I could actually see it happening the more I think about it, maybe GameFreak wanted one last game solely on the 3DS (much like they released BW2 on the DS before moving fully to the 3DS, advantage being the 3DS was backwards compatible) before moving to the Switch but Nintendo wanted it on the Switch asap and releasing one version on each was their compromise to appease both parties. When this title started development I doubt the Switch was out so they obviously didn't know how well it'd be doing at this point so releasing a version on each would be edging their bets just in case the Switch didn't take off like it did.
Hopefully if this is the case then Gen 8 would be a completely fresh new start for the series, I'd actually like something like BW again, where until post game you could only catch new Pokemon for example. Hopefully with a brand new engine to bring it up to date visually.
Apparently shows the model for Pikachu in the new games and the weird tail is due to the model showing both male and female Pikachu, looks decent if real. Although the shading under its chin looks a little odd.
I'm hearing that the starters won't get to evolve, be traded or bred, due to their importance in the story. They'd best give Eevee a good move set, then, cos it was always a really useless gooseberry fool to me.
If they're not letting Pikachu or Eevee evolve then I'd guess each would in line for a stat boost? Seem to recall they're both in the 300 ish range for bst.
Although if that is true I hope they give each an item to start with (light ball for Pikachu for example) to make them more usable.
Yes it would make Eevee being the evolution Pokemon pointless, unless its only for a portion of the game then you get to decide what your starter evolves into? So Pikachu into Raichu or Alolan Raichu and then Eevee into one of its evolutions. Or at least get an item to evolve them when you want to.
Sounds like in Gale of Darkness when you go to Gateon Port. People see you have an Eevee and one of the people there gives you an item to evolve it. I'd assume that would be the case with Pikachu as well.

For what names?
I can't make out from this thread whether it's Go Red/Blue or Go Pikachu/Eevee
I eventually found the English logo again, and it turns out it's not official but created by someone on DeviantArt which someone else then used to create a fake Domain Registry image capture. It does look good, if a little basic in colour.
I don't really have much reservations about how this game should look tbh. I just want a Pokemon game that feels different while being fresh and exciting to play. I wanna see some bold directions taken to the formula.
