 Exactly. Shat myself when it killed me in one punch when I was trying to get the ember from that chest in the water.

I think the idea is that he pretends he's a bit of a "low level no idea what he's doing" player, with his weak armor, Drake sword and trying to use the bonfire when invaded.

When really all along he's a strawberry float off high level and able to wield a strawberry float off axe one handed when he wants to.

So I think I got all of the souls required to save Solaire, which way do I go to get the shortcut and save him?

I got as far as the fog gate after the taurus and capra demons, but didnt want to progress in case I missed him. To the right of the fog gate is a giant tree root thing and a massive corridor, but it looks like the fall would kill me.

You go into that corridor and there's a root that you can walk down to the ground to open the shortcut.

Perfect, cheers.

One quick question though, do I have to have beaten the boss behind the fog door first?

Well, that Solaire gooseberry fool didnt work. He didnt appear. Titanite fella has pushed me off that bridge like 3 times. Then when I finally got Kirk to invade the pyromancer turned the floor to lava and strawberry floated me up.

Tried Manus a few times and got owned.

I think Ive hit the wall. Tempted to just make a new character now I know all the rules and gooseberry fool and play a proper run through.

The Solaire thing didn't work on my second playthrough despite following the instructions perfectly.

Started a Pyro and within an hour I had beaten the Taurus first time and won my first pvp encounter. Waaaaay easier than the warrior was. I had a good crack at killing the Asylum Demon at first encounter, too. I gave up in the end because I wasnt prepared to spend all night chipping away 2 dmg a time. The biggest change is the movement speed. Dodging is so easy now Im used to doing it with a big heavy fella.

Just not sure which weapon to go with. I hear the axe is good but I dont like it, using the Reinforced Club atm. Got a shortshord which I fancied but that doesnt seem to do nearly as much damage.
