Primary ability on clothing is worth around three times the amount of each secondary ability slot (10 points of improvement to 3). . There are also diminishing returns at play where it’s not really worth having more than 20-30 points of the same ability.
If you pick three items of gear that each have a main ability you want (which isn’t hard to do, clothing is easy to come by) you’re half way there, and if you’re not interesting in grinding to improve, just take whatever upgrades you get from the rolls. They’ll all help. I’ve hit S+ in each ranked mode doing this as I couldn’t be bothered to grind for chunks.
Honestly, due to the dimishing marginal returns, optimising each spot doesn’t make a huge difference, certainly not enough to really disadvantage you unless you’re playing ranked at the top level.
