I just downloaded the latest version and when I tried running it nothing happened, until I shut down the version already running and ran the exe again. Check that it isn't running minimized in the notification area of the taskbar.

If it's not that, this is a good place to go to find other possible solutions:

Once you get it up and running you won't miss Megaupload at all.

I can't be strawberry floated torrenting, I've wasted too many hours trying in vain to make it work and nothing - not even uninstalling and reinstalling - gets it to work for me. Plus, torrent websites are full to overflowing with gooseberry fool that shouldn't be there - I could never tell what was a high quality link and what was some Spanish recording. And on those few occasions where something did try to download, it never got past 0%, even after two days of waiting.

Ease of use is imperative and my many experiences of torrenting have been far from easy. I'd take MegaUpload over torrents any day.

I suppose your mileage may vary with the torrent sites. My one and only time of attempting a torrent was in search of Cowboy Bebop, so I went to a specialist (Nyaatorrents), and saw they had a system where the recommended high quality torrents were highlighted in blue. I picked the blue torrent and lo and behold it was high quality: 720p, English and Japanese language options in the same file, more extras than you can shake a spaceship at. Piece of piss to get running too. More torrent trackers should use a similar system. I know it'll be impractical for a catch-all trackers such as The Pirate Bay, but specialists should definitely have a similar system.

Sky have the rights to HBO's back catalogue, so it'll turn up on Sky Atlantic at some point soon I imagine.

My problem is that with uTorrent there isn't a way to completely disable seeding. Even when you put it at minimum it's still uploading at 1 kb/s, which makes it illegal for where I live. Is there a way to prevent this?

Don't use bittorrent. Torrents are designed for sharing.

Just finished S1 of Archer. I started off not being sure what I thought of it, but by the end I had really enjoyed the series. Really like the style too and there some fine bitches in it :shifty: .

Shame S2 isn't on Netflix :(

Just use Filesonic. You can get anything you want with it, goes the full speed of your connection and it is cheaper than what Megaupload was. Works exactly the same way.

Use JDownloader as a download manager and get the links from tehParadox. Job done. Been doing that for years.

Rapidshare is better than torrents as is fileserve, filesonic and hotfile. Wupload is gooseberry fool though. Always pregfered Rapidshare of Megaupload also.

Torrents are shite.

Again, look into usenet. You might have to pay a small fee a month. But unlimited downloading, connections that will always hit your download speed at max and no uploading it's awesome. Plus if you setup sabnzb and sickbeard it will automatically download your TV shows, rename them and sort them into the proper folders. Takes some setting up but once you do it's easily the best.

What's the full URL? tehparadox.com seems super slow and full of crappy ads.

This would be ace if I kept my shows on the PC.

There are ads that you have to put up with but they must be having server problems atm as it is a lot slower than usual.

Paying at all for pirated material is quite clearly the definition of insane.

Well said. I always try and eventually buy what I pirated and liked, when I can, so there's no way I'm paying for the pirated version as well. That's what puts me off Usenet the most. I'd rather wait longer and have to deal with bad/password protected stuff than pay for any kind of subscription that doesn't make my money arrive in the pockets of those who actually deserve it.

You can add CouchPotato to that list too. It's basically SickBeard for movies, and is just as good. You can configure it to only grab movies from a particular group too.
