The thread title.

Just got an email from Onlive saying I can play this there, but there's still not even the option to pre-load my Steam copy. What mockery is this? :x

Remember that there's a Calendar Man event today. Of course you could change the console clock to get this whenever.

Apparently there are problems with DX11 causing slowdown on ultra-PCs that should be able to handle it, the recommendations are to turn it to DX9 until a patch is released :fp:

http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/11/24/arkham-citys-directx-11-support-is-some-kind-of-joker/

PCGamer wrote:Arkham City’s been out on those awful plastic box things for a good month or so now, but us PC gamers have had to put up with a wait. We know that this is because developers Rocksteady are cramming lots of cracking stuff into the game for the PC version. We know that when it’s finally released we’re going to have the most realistic experience you can have short of dressing like a gravity-defying flying rodent and fighting crime on the streets of Ipswich.

But all is not well in Arkham City. It appears that a number of gamers are having problems with all the shiny bells and whistles DirectX 11 brings to the game. For example, Jared Walton of AnandTech has an ultra-powerful gaming PC, but experienced huge frame rate drops until he scaled back the game from DirectX 11 to DirectX 9. It seems to be the experience many other PC gamers are having, too.

Publisher Warner Bros has promised a patch on Arkham City’s official forums, and in the meantime offers advice on what to do – which we’ve Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V’d below. We hope that the patch is out before the game’s UK release tomorrow, but we doubt it somehow. We’re such negative ninnies like that.

Instructions for changing DX 11 to DX 9

The Launcher can be accessed on Games for Windows LIVE and Steam to change DX 11 to DX 9 in the Settings menu.
Change both DirectX 11 Features and DirectX 11 Tessellation to OFF.

Games for Windows LIVE
Start > All Programs > Games > Right click on Batman: Arkham City and select Launcher > Settings
1. Open the Start Menu
2. Select All Programs and then the Games folder
3. Right click on Batman: Arkham City and select Launcher
4. Choose Settings then click on the arrow next to DX options to change

Steam:
Launch Steam Client > Library > Right click on Batman: Arkham City > Configure PC Options
1. Open Steam
2. Select Library
3. Right click on Batman: Arkham City and select Configure PC Options
4. Choose Settings then click on the arrow next to DX options to change

So much for testing games before they get released, how the hell did this slip past, given the month+ delay?

 :fp:

16 motherf**king GB?!

If I transfer this over to a external hard drive, can I essentially copy and paste it onto my other PC?

Wow the PC version of this is a shoddy port. Bugs, extremely long (30 mins?) load times and all sorts of other problems.

Yay "PC Supremacy!".

gonna wait till some patches are out before I purchase this... how sad it has all these issues (DX11). Arkham Asylum was great on PC.

Even on DX9 this looks fantastic, really enjoying this so far. Is there any way to switch to catwoman whenever you want? otherwise i'm going to have to go around getting every single CW trophy in one big go :?

Later on in the game you'll be given "switch points" on certain roof tops that allows you to switch between Catwoman and Batman.

So I tried running the benchmark tool with DX11 both on and off.

Off, I averaged 70fps, and the lowest it dropped was around 30, when there seemed to be some of the PhysX ice stuff being chucked about, and peaked over 100.

When I switched it on, it halved my average FPS, and dropped the minimum down to 0, whilst it only ever peaked at 60.

Might switch to using my wired Xbox controller. This game just doesn't seem right with a mouse and keyboard

Don't know if anyone's mentioned this but it sounds like Rocksteady are releasing another DLC pack in December. This DLC pack will apparently include The Iceberg Lounge challenge room, Joker's Carnival and a Batcave challenge room.

So yeah, they offered Iceberg Lounge and Joker's Carnival as seperate pre-order bonuses but if you want the pack you're going to have to pay for the whole thing and effectively pay Rocksteady back for the free pre-order DLC. Awful, awful, backhanded, sly kick in the teeth if true.

I think a simple (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ would have sufficed.

I imagine they wouldn't be that retarded to only offer a package that includes some stuff that was a pre-order bonus and some that wasn't. Presumably there will be separate items available, with a complete package at a discount, maybe? The twitter announcement makes it sound like you've got some all new content, then the pre-order content also available, separately.

Brand new DLC coming December 20th with all new Batcave. Jokers carnival and the iceberg lounge also available to download then!

Oh, why?

I think they could have added the Batcave as a side quest and it would be awesome. As there are some unfinished businesses for some missions, but instead, they add more challenges!
