I don't think people need to worry too much about time commitments, as has been said a few times in here you can be as active a participant as you like.

As long as people don't sign up and then completely blank the game it's fine - you don't need to post hundreds of times a day. More active players will tend to summarise events and get debate going about what to do each day, as a quieter player you can be influential in terms of how you respond to that.
