It kinda feels like there is a big variance in noise levels from PS4 systems. I have a Pro and it never gets that noisy and I'm wondering if that's because I nearly always play games straight from the hard drive rather than using a disc version? I do notice the noise increase when slotting in a disc.

Disc games install and play off the hard drive anyway, it's just installing from the disc that is really loud. You get loud disc read noise when slotting in a disc but it should stop after only a minute.

I think the main PS4 noise complaint is for the fan, and that's presumably going to vary between setups because it's all about the temperature of the console and heat dissipation into its surroundings. I've rarely had problems with fan noise, but my console is raised up with open air to all sides but the bottom.

True, Orange. It was a factor in my change over to downloading during this gen. That and the lack of manuals!

Definitely stick for me, my PS4 Pro and Switch are fine for me for the foreseeable, I've got loads of stuff on my wishlist for both and could happily keep going with them for a couple of years yet.

I have just bought a load of parts to build a new PC though so I'm definitely still investing in gaming this season!

Just got a copy of red dead redemption 2 for £15. Can't beat that value.

My console is well ventilated, and I’ve cleaned it recently, I think it’s just through so much use with taxing games over the years the thermal compound or the fan motor is just kind of done.

When RDR2 came out there was a new Pro model that was apparently much quieter but I think I heard that even those were starting to sound loud now.

I'll be getting a Series S once I can afford one.

Looking unlikley I'll have a PS5 on launch, but hoping to get one within the month.

I'm buying a flat soon, so I'll probably stick with what I've got for the time being. Maybe next year I'll get a PS5, but before that comes a television and an RTX 3080. So probably not until 2022.

Still plenty of titles to get through on ps4 and most are now available at cheap prices.

PS5 disc version on launch day. I'll be getting Spidey and Blops cold war at launch. Demon souls at Christmas. I'll be playing TLOU2 again and trying Ghosts of Tsushima as well as some of the games on the Plus Collection list. Plenty of games to keep me busy till well into the new year with that and my switch.

Can't see me getting an xbox until it has some exclusives that I want to play enough to buy another console.

Keeping my Switch, but ditched my Xbox over using my Shadow PC via Android TV in the living room.

At this stage of the voting, it seems that the Xbox consoles may have a small lead over the PS5 ones in terms of GRcadian plans. It's very close, of course, but still represents quite a change from the current generation of systems.

I'm a wee bit surprised at the numbers for folk who are planning to stick with current gen at the moment; it feels like the costs and current employment uncertainties may be driving this.

And, of course, it's marvelous to see that a few people are planning to enjoy sitting in the sunshine on a Boulogne harbour instead, possibly quaffing down a cheeky mid-afternoon tipple and laughing about those console Burger King antics.

I've changed my vote now to bring the PS5 numbers up. I'm not actually buying one but don't want Xbox to control the GRcade narrative.

I'd kinda anticipated that you'd veer towards Boulogne rather than PS5, Dual :o .
