Hi y'all. I'm in the market for some new sports games, and it struck me that I haven't bought an American sports game for a good while. So, I want to know what the best are.
NBA - Is it NBA 2K9? As far as I know, the Live series still hasn't quite caught up with the 2K series. Correct?
NHL - NHL 09 is all I need, mm?
NFL - Madden 09 is £20. Good?
MLB - Any games actually released over here?
Please feel free to advise and discuss. If you don't like American sports, please don't post any whiny comments, just strawberry float off. Thanks.
I prefer the pure hitting mechanics of Wii Sports Baseball, but the pitching is a lot better in The Bigs. Plus it has the MLB license. And you can play games that last longer than 3 innings.
It's very much an arcade baseball game (special moves etc) but it still feels like baseball for the most part.
Resurrecting a 10yr old thread! Anyone playing MLB The Show 19 (one of this month's free Plus games)? I've sunk about 12 hrs in so far, mainly in RTTS mode.
I've bought MLB 16 & 17 previously and enjoyed those although never played much outside of RTTS and Home run Derby mode with my boys. The Dynasty mode confused the hell out of me as I recall.
Anyways, MLB is always a great example of how a sports game presentation can be done well. The little touches like a multitude of different crowd reactions are nice to see.
I'm plowing through my RTTS career in the minor leagues at present, waiting for my chance in the big leagues. 9 HR, over 50 RBI and a batting ave of .310 after about 70 games of the season is respectable I think.
Enjoying the additional options to argue with the team coach about my best fielding position from time to time too.
Well worth people looking at this if you have a passing interest in MLB
