Started playing Metroid: Samus Returns (N3DS) tonight, it’s a bit good isn’t it  only put a little bit of time into it so far but I’m liking what I’ve played. It’s good to be back in Samus’s boots again.

Super Time Force Ultra and a bit of Downwell.

My brain can't quite figure out Super Time Force. I seem to be doing alright, but it's confusing as hell at times.

I've played through Downwell a lot, I own it on PC and Switch. Playing it on Gamepass PC now. It's such a well designed title.

Edit - Completed Downwell, started the Casle of Illusion Remake. It's not too bad.

Does Doom (the new one) get any better, because I'm finding it dull as dishwater at the moment. Done two levels and it's just so bland.

It clicks after a bit. It's bloody brilliant once you get into the flow of it.... And then.... They introduce a new enemy who has a shield and summons a killer dog and attacks but in a room full of enemies and it's terrible and then it does it again and that's when I uninstalled, last or second last level. Apart from that it's brilliant.

Wish my image sig would work

I managed to finally finish Final Fantasy II last night and started the post game campaign. I had to beat the final dungeon twice as after unlocking the Soul of Rebirth campaign I foolishly overwrote my save file despite the game clearly warning me not to :fp:

Control - Post game now. Trying to get the platinum. (Looks a really straightforward one and I'm still enjoying the game, so why not?)

Decided to give Okami another punt on Switch. I'd started it on at least 2 other occasions but never really got past the first hour. Not sure why, maybe something shiny came along. Anyway, 2 hours in and I'm in love. What a glorious game, so beautiful. I knew it was supposed to be decent as so many people adore it but until I saw Bloom actually kick in then maybe I didn't appreciate quite how lovely it might be. I'm here for the whole ride now.

Resisted the urge to start a fresh play-through of Skyrim and instead now dividing my gaming time between Animal Crossing New Horizons and The Witcher 3. The Witcher 3 really is fantastic, I’m still in Velen (second time through, first time I was about 10 hours in so just decided to restart it) so relatively no where in the game but the main quest and the side quests are just fantastically written. It can be equally peaceful like Animal Crossing as well, just spending time sailing in a boat, can’t wait to get to Skellige though!

I picked up SnowRunner earlier in the week from Epic as I still had the £10 off voucher from the sale.

Good strawberry floating lord it has awoken something in me. I can’t stop playing it. I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s so simple but the fundamentals are so solid. I’m not usually into games like this. I bounce off the Truck Simulator games every time I try them and wasn’t interested in Spintyres or Mudrunner.

But there’s something intoxicating about this. The constant saving and all around persistence of everything you do makes the maps seem so physically *real*. Everything is always exactly where you left it, so even when the game’s turned off, my mind is thinking about where I left things and in what state like they’re things that actually exist. It’s hard to describe, but my brain is really struggling to disassociate all these vehicles and trailers from reality, like it’s processing the game as a toy set of miniature trucks or something.

Also helps that the game looks great, the map design is a delight, and the progression / upgrade system they’ve added really adds a lot of fun to what, on paper, sound like really mundane jobs.

The reviews of this make me really want to play Mudrunner on the Switch but maybe I'd be better forgoing that and just getting this on XBox.

Tempted to try that myself now, I think the slower nature of the vehicles and the fact there's no racing makes me think it'd work well with the onscreen controller I use.

Playing Thousand Year Door, after nearly 15 years of hearing how great it was, and actually... not enjoying it. I'm no stranger to playing older games, but there are plenty out there that can still feel amazing, 15-20 years after they came out. It's the same combat system from every Mario RPG, all the way back to the SNES, and I've never found it much fun. I like the characters, the story, the different settings but it feels like such a slog to play :(

I don’t know the practicalities of your setup but the most dexterous manoeuvre I’ve had to do is hold the winch button while steering and accelerating to help drag a lorry out of the mud. You can definitely do everything at your own pace, there’s not even any traffic in the game so you have the world to yourself.

Though I have to admit I haven’t engaged with the crane or manual loading stuff yet so maybe there’s more to that

I can probably come up with some kind of useable setup for that.

Got no big tasks in Animal Crossing where I'd play for hours in one session, so I decided I'd start Resident Evil 1 remake on Xbox as Jill (on what I assume is Easy difficulty). Enjoying it, perfect game alongside Animal Crossing too

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe

A fine game but it barely scratches the itch. These unnecessary modern takes on 2D classics don't particularly ingratiate themselves with me and I don't feel especially invested. Three worlds deep and the levels are varied, the soundtrack compliments the the mood each level looks to impose. Controls are tight and visuals are vibrant; essentially there is nothing wrong with this game and if I were taking an adjective view then I'd probably give this a solid 8 or 9 out of 10.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Still playing Witcher 3. Absolutely loving it. Still can't find the thread for it.
