lol at the preamble in this video going to great lengths to stress that other footage floating around is unpatched and that it's definitely all fixed here.

That's a fairly late embargo, 3 days before launch. Usually that means 1) the publisher isn't confident about reviews or 2) the game is coming in super hot and isn't going to be review ready until launch.

Probably option 2 in this instance.

I lose track of how close to release reviews go up now but 3 days doesn't seem too late?

Hold on, that's not what they're saying though is it? The embargo is the date at which reviews can go live, not the date the reviewers get the game to review?

They most likely already have a build that they are playing and reviewing now, with the understanding that further updates may be passed to them over the next two weeks to bring the experience in to line with the day 1 patch.

Aren't late embargos like that more and more standard these days?

I thought they had the game already, I mean there's been a few previews.

Yeah 3 days before launch is pretty normal.

Think with the game being so anticipated they could probably not do a single review and still sell millions of copies.

Cannot wait for the 10th, this is going to keep me so busy over Christmas/January for sure.

Most games reviews lift normally a day before or day of release, so this is pretty early by some standards.
It's only games like God of War that lifted like a week before launch.

I've been ignoring everthing to do with this for a long time now (a self-imposed blackout I guess) but I watched the gameplay trailer the other day to see how things looked. I felt kind of underwhelmed really. Night City? I know it's based on the board game, but that's such a poor name. I didn't realise it was set in American either, which is probably the most boring setting possible. A few bits looked okay I guess, but nothing really grabbed me and made me think I wanted to play it. Perhaps I need to look at it some more and check out some video reviews when it's released.

Given some of the issues that have come up during the development I'm assuming a few people on here will be boycotting the game, but I can't remember the last time a game had so much hype around it. Can't help but think some people will be disappointed, but it'd be great if it was as good as people are hoping it to be.

There's double counting going on there with 2 Dark Souls games and 3 Miyazaki games.

It's good how CDPR are pricing Cyberpunk at less than the "going rate" for AAA games nowdays. They've even dropped the price; this past week the PlayStation Store price changed from £54.99 to £49.99, with those who had already pre-ordered being refunded the difference.

Considering that new gen games are being punted out at £69.99 and how Sony has price-matched PS4 games with PS5 games (because of "free" upgrades) this seems pretty decent.

Yeah CDPR have released TW3, two expansions of considerable size and quality as well as the card games in that time as well so it's not like they've been idling!

It isn't like it has been 9 years in development, they just announced their plans super early for some reason.

It was announced way too early. It has only been seriously in development since 2015 after TW3 came out and even then they were still working on TW3 DLC alongside this, so really 4.5 - 5 years in development. Not outrageous for an ambitious new game.

Full production kicked off around 2018 according to a dev on reddit, with another few years pre-prod. And yeah, that initial announcement was done way, way too early in their process.
