Thanks for the advice everyone I think I'm going to follow through with my support for the Railroad and maybe later use an early save to see what happens if I help the other side.

No spoilers please but...
Father said they are doing good and trying to help the world! Also I'm not sure there is any proof that synths are sentient. I've spent a bit of time travelling with Nick Valentine but he keeps repeating the same old lines!

I think I know what you mean. This game seemed a bit pedestrian and non-immersive for me for the most part. It wasn't until the Institute investigation that it got me interested. What I loved about Fallout 3 was it seemed relatively 'real' in the sense of a world destroyed by human folly and the lack of hope, very grim. The political buildings of Washington and the Paradise Lost books added to the theme. There was no hi-tech vehicles witnessed until the end which made it seem less sci-fi and more gritty reality. Fallout 4 feels like a series of disparate missions. But it's very easy to drop into now and I love the effects when shooting people's heads off! I once shot a wild dog and my bullet literally ripped it into two halves that fell over!
