That's some insane numbers. And I'm glad to see it, after last gen.

I hate to keep rabbiting on about it, but you all need to buy Boxboy. It's strawberry floating great.

Edit - I thought this was the actual Switch thread. Sorry

On the verge of surpassing the lifetime PS4 (+Pro) sales in Japan apparently:

Impressive.

It’s easier to forget just how much Japan loves a handheld console.

Which is why I think the Switch Mini rumours have to be true.

The Switch shifted 12.53 million units worldwide in the six months between April and September, reaching a total of 68.30 million. In the US, the Switch sold more units in Q3 2020 than any platform since the DS In Q3 2009.

Three-and-a-half years after launch and the Switch continues to be a monster sales success!

And yet, third parties treat the system as though it has Covid.

That's an interesting point, Chris... and one that leads into a thread that I'm creating right now!

Very impressive numbers, 12 million in 6 months is incredible when you think about it. You wouldn't be too disappointed if you got those kinds of figures for a whole year!

Looks on track to likely end up as Nintendo's second most succesful piece of hardware, I can't see it getting to the ridiculous 150 million level of something like the original DS

The Switch was no slouch in October, either - it has just achieved the "second-highest October sales of any video game console in history" in the US, shifting just over 735,000 units. This has made it the best-selling console in the region for 23 consecutive months.

Most impressive!

We'll probably see some huge numbers from all 3 of the consoles over the next few months

It's a double-whammy of lockdown and economic downturn both benefiting gaming

This is a neat graphic showing Nintendo console sales spread over time. I wonder if 2020 will stand as being the peak year for the Switch?

The GameCube was so underappreciated.

Perhaps that's why prices for its games have boomed in recent years.

I think it got caught up between the sales behemoth that was the PS2 and the powerhouse Xbox. It was fantastic for gamers to have three decent consoles competing in the market, though.

Yeah, and as the Wii U was even less popular - and with the unique and unlikely-to-be-replicated Gamepad controller - I'd imagine that could be even more sought after in the future, too. Except it "had no gaems" etc  .
